Date: Aug 27th
I can't believe my oldest is turning double digits!!
The big TEN!!
On Saturday we had his birthday party.
I had vowed last year was the last time I hosted crazy boys at my house.
I was certain this year we would rent out a facility elsewhere.
Well that was the plan until July....
when that dang Pokemon Go app was released and took over the world.
Anden then insisted he wanted a Pokemon Go party!!
Well go figure nobody has party supplies, facilities, games or decor for that theme.
So that meant once again the party was landing in my home
along with 13 hyper sweaty crazy boys!
Honestly though I'll have to admit that I had a lot of fun designing this one!
It's always nice to throw in a boy party among all the girly ones I do!
Except I knew hardly nothing about Pokemon Go.
Good thing Anden and Ryan are pros and taught me! lol
So the second Laiklyn's party was over, 2 weeks ago, I set out working on Anden's party.
The week of the party Ryan was sent to Houston for work for the entire week.
I thought I was going to die single mom'ing it for a whole week
while being huge prego, juggling a Tasmanian Toddler and prepping for a big party.
(more on that later! lol)
But I survived and the party came together as planned
and was a total hit!
So introducing....
Anden's Pokemon Go Party!
The Invite
The Party
The Food
Poppy came up a bit early to help with Laiklyn while we set up the last few things.
Then Aunt Heather and the cousins arrived next.
They were out front for a bit with Laiklyn.
Then they came walking in with a transformed Laiklyn!!
HAHAHA I loved it!!
Leave it to Auntie to spoil the non birthday kid too!
Now the party can really start because Pikachu is in the house! :)
Trainer Orientation
The first thing we did is hand out each Trainer their Trainer Kit.
Inside their Kit was their official Trainer Shirt and Team ID Badge.
They put on their gear and assembled into their Teams.
Team Instinct, Team Mystic and Team Valor
The Pokeball Hunt
Once the teams were arranged
I explained the "real life" Pokemon Go that we were going to play.
Just like the app, the first thing they had to do was find the Pokestops and collect Pokeballs.
But they had to follow clues in order to find the Pokestops.
They were so excited that they hardly listened to the instructions
(big surprise lol)
Within a flash they all bolted out the front door to the park!
With a bit of guidance and corraling they figured out the clues, found all their
Pokestops and filled up on Pokeballs!
Team Mystic
Team Instinct
Team Valor
Counting and dividing up their loot
Pokeman Catch Game
Now that the teams had collected Pokeballs they set off to catch Pokemon!
They had to throw their balls into the holes to collect a token of that character.
The more rare Pokemon were on the sides with smaller holes
and counted as double points!
Sneaking in a test run
Let the Pokemon catching begin!
Little Pikachu came rolling in during the game! lol
The girls watching the action
Once the boys used up all their balls,
they counted up their team total of tokens!
Surprisingly they got a ton of tokens!
I must really be a poor pokeball shooter because I made hardly any
into the holes when I tested it the night before! lol
The Battle
The Team with the most tokens got to enter the Gym for the Battle round first.
The 2nd highest Team was their opponent.
They selected a team representative to enter the Gym (aka trampoline)
and were given their weapon (aka pool noodle)
to take out the other team's egg (aka confetti egg).
The rules were laid out - no hitting each other in the faces, just smash the confetti egg.
And the battle began!
Team Instinct, Anden vs Team Mystic, Collin
Team Instinct won!
So Team Valor, Will took on Team Instinct now.
Then we made it more exciting by putting all 3 teams on at once.
Once an egg broke, the next team member got on for a swing!
The boys of course loved this and beating the crap out of each other...
oh I mean each other's eggs!
Finally we wore them out for a bit and stopped for refueling!
Lunch Time
The boys really wanted Anden to open presents next!
Of course Anden was all over that!
Present Time
A bit later we moved on to singing and
Cupcake Time!
On a side note when I ordered the cupcakes I asked for a small dot of black on top of the red frosting.
When we picked them up the night before I was shocked to see a huge black cowpie on top
of the cupcakes!!!
I was worried it would scare the boys away.
But I soon found out they have no fear of black gobs of frosting! lol
These were the messiest cupcakes ever but they loved it! ha
They soon became hillbilly rednecks with black teeth! lol
The Crazy Pokemon Trainers
The whole crew!
Playing until parents arrived
About this time Poppy and Laiklyn, or should I say her highness, came back from the park! lol
She's not spoiled at all!
Cousins
Overall it was a total success of a party!!
And nothing or nobody got broken!!
(well until the next day when Ryan bumped into a bookcase and shattered a floral vase!)
Happy Birthday Anden!!!
We Love You!!
