Spring Break Mexico Trip - Part 3

Date: Mar 25th

Sadly today was our last day in Mexico.
But we made the most of it.
As usual we were right down to the beach and pools at day break!

The kids wanted to ride the tube again.
But this time even Ryan and Laiklyn joined in.

They had a blast yet again!
The grins say it all!

Laiklyn bounced on over to me to tell me all about it! lol

More Mangoes on a stick!
We've decided everything tastes better on a stick! lol
(but I did have to look past the rusty old machete the local was using to slice that fancy mango!!)

Of course us gringos ordered ours plain.
We had been warned not to get the chili and lime juice and other hot stuff on it.
But not Ryan.
He went all out.
So gross! haha

Finally we loaded up and started our journey home.
We had to go back downtown though for Anden to spend his money
that he was clinging to all week wavering on what to buy.
Funny on how when it's MY money he spends it in a second
but his money he debates the purchase much longer!
Finally he found the souvenirs he wanted
and we made the trek back to the border.
Where we sat and waited and waited and waited and waited
FOREVER
to get back into the United States.
Holy crap didn't know to expect that!
But we did manage to spend the rest of our money to the locals
walking along our car selling everything from tamales to tortillas to their first born.

This was SUCH a fun family trip!!
We rarely take little trips that don't involve extended family.
So we cherish these times with just the 6 of us.
And the kids learned a bit of culture along the way.
I don't know how many times we were asked...

Why is it so dirty here?
How come there's so many stray dogs?
Why are the houses half broken?
How come they walk around barefoot?
Why are there abandoned buildings?
How come they have trash in their yards?
How come they have (insert any random object) in their yards?
Why are the roads just dirt?
Why does their soda tastes better?
Why does their food taste gross?
Why is there a horse inside that house? (no joke lol)

And that was just in the 10 minutes we drove around outside of our safe fancy resort!! lol

Spring Break Mexico Trip - Part 2

Date: Mar 24th

Sun up....and we're ready to play!

Today was Mermaid day for the girls!
I couldn’t help myself when I saw all these cute swimsuits online!

Laiklyn show me your mermaid suit!
She strikes a pose.
I bust up laughing.
She busts up laughing.
"Mommy I so funny!!"

And then we had a Sea Monster too! Lol

We lounged at the heated pool first!
Once again we were the first ones there and had the whole place to ourselves!
Ryan was stalking the beach looking for any local to sell him a breakfast burrito! Lol
I found them the morning before but he wasn’t down yet to enjoy it.
He was on a mission to find homemade burritos, tortillas and
But luckily he came back with a massive Pina Colada for us instead!
Mmmmm mmmm that’s all I wanted while we were there!
The mango on a stick was a hit too!

We eventually migrated down to the beach.
The big kids wanted to go on the tube ride.
So away they went far into the ocean!
I figured they would be naturals considering how much they tube on the lake at home.
Anden loved it.  Taylee not so much.
I guess salt water flipping up into your eyes isn’t the most pleasant thing!

When they got back Taylee finally found the lady that braids her!
That’s all she wanted for the trip was her hair to be braided.
And there’s NO way I have patience to do that.
So I’ll gladly pay a local to do that instead! Ha

Then to my surprise Ryan had booked me a massage on the beach.
I don’t sit down much when I’m with the kids….or really anytime I’m at home.
So he forced me to lay down and relax!
Ahhhh that’s a first…a massage on the beach!

My massage finished before Taylee’s braids were done!
Sheesh she’ll never sit there that long without complaining for me to do her hair! Lol

Then it was Ryan’s turn for a mini massage

Finally Taylee’s hair was done! She was so excited about it!
Now she really is a mermaid! :)

We decided we wanted to rent jet skis.
That’s another first I hadn’t done is ride jet skis on the ocean!
So Ryan took each of the kids for a spin.
Then Anden and I headed out and tore it up! So fun!

The girls and I played while waiting for the boys to come back

Anden and Ryan in the distance on the jet ski

Love these two little mermaid sisters and their cute bond!

Laiky's turn!
Yep only in Mexico do they let a 2 year old ride
and also wearing a life jacket that's way too big for her.
Oh well.  She's like a 5 year old anyway! lol

Laiklyn loved it!
Now Taylee's turn!

Finally it was mine and Anden's turn.
But no pics to prove it!
Apparently Ryan can't handle 3 girls and a camera....although I did! ;)

At this point it was finally lunch time.
Yes we did at that before 12:30pm! haha
So we headed back up to the condo for lunch and naps.
While I stayed back with the napping littles,
Ryan took the bigs and rented quads.
Luckily I could see them in the dunes right in front of our resort.
So I sat on our balcony and watched them tear up the earth now.
They had SOOO much fun on the quads!
I seriously think it was the best day in Anden's life! haha

The specs below are Ryan and the big kids on the quads.

Our condo was in the end unit.
So one direction was sand view

and the other direction was gorgeous beach/ocean view!

Every unit had the biggest balcony patio I've ever seen at a resort!
It was massive!

So while the littles slept I chilled right here watching them ride quads
and enjoying the cool ocean breeze!

The kids were literally beaming when they got back!
Well that and they stopped at the mercado for another soda!

They talked on and on about all the stories from the quad ride!
Complete ear to ear grins!
Laiklyn was still napping so we hung out on the patio enjoying the beautiful view!

Once Laiky woke up it was right back down to the beach to explore the tide pools!

We were freezing!
I guess that's the problem with living in a hot place....anywhere else seems cold! lol
So hot tub time it was!

Then we ventured out for dinner
and back to the hotel for the night...and to watch NCAA tourney!
