Well it took exactly one week of school
for Taylee to catch Strep Throat.
You've gotta love the back to school germs!
So my first day alone with the 3 kids was the freak 100 year flood rains.
The second day alone I'm juggling sick kids!
So I dropped Anden off at school
then hauled Taylee & my 1 wk old baby to the doctor.
They gave her the strep test and it came back negative.
The doctor cleared her to go back to school,
So against Taylee's wishes, I did just that.
We hauled back 30 mins to school.
The next morning at 8am I get a call from the Doctor.
"Yes, we just wanted to notify you that Taylee's strep test turned positive
so we called in antibiotics to your pharmacy
oh and keep her home from school for 48 hours."
HUH?!!
I saw 3 obvious dilemmas with this notification...
1 - How the heck does a strep test change overnight??!
(I learned later that the culture can grow/mutate over time! Who knew?)
2 - You told me to send her back to school yesterday so the germs have already spread
3 - Taylee is already on her way to school!
So I hurried and intercepted her then brought her back home.
I then notified her teacher about the diagnosis.
After that I sadly had to put Taylee in lockdown from Laiklyn!
This was the hardest part of the entire situation!!
Poor kid just loves to smother her baby sister!
I was able to distract her with a picnic patio lunch though!
The next morning Taylee wanted to push Laiklyn as we walked Anden to school,
She was so bummed that she wasn't going to school too
so I lifted the baby ban & allowed her the sheer joy of pushing the stroller!
We spent another day at home with poor Taylee in quarantine.
But something really lifted her spirits later that day.
Taylee's cute teacher had emailed me back after I told her Taylee had strep
and told me for their writing exercise that day they were going to write
Get Well notes to her & she would send them home with Anden.
Ahh what a sweet idea!!
I didn't tell Taylee so that it would surprise her!
Needless to say it was quite the feel good surprise.
I loved reading each one with her
and smiling about the cute misspelled words & drawings.
Well most of the letters had the same message which was probably
the writing assignment their teacher had them copy,
But one letter caught my eye & had me laughing out loud.
Clearly she broke the mold and wrote whatever she wanted!
As always somehow Anden found his way into the spotlight also! :)
