Good Friday

I had Friday off from work.
So we played and played!

We even found time to boil eggs
(yes I admit, I had to google how)
so that we could make REAL easter eggs!

After 30 minutes, the eggs were done, rinsed and transferred to the basket.
Next up we had to chill them in the fridge for awhile.
But first I let the kids take a peek.
As Taylee was pulling herself up on the bar stool,
she somehow managed to knock the basket of eggs off the counter
and onto the tile.
Three sustained critical injuries.
She was devastated.

This little girl has every one of my heart strings connected directly to hers.
Those big ole blue sad eyes can put me into tears
the second she does.

After a little reassurance that the eggs could be salvaged
and a few kisses
(for the eggs, not her)
we were all smiles again!

So while the eggs chilled,
we went and visited the Easter bunny!
(unexpectedly he was out at the stores that day!)

Then we met our friends for lunch!

After naps, it was egg dying time.
Considering we couldn't even look at hard boiled eggs without a fatality,
I knew this was gonna be action packed...and dangerous!

To my surprise, the dying and decorating process went abnormally smooth!
So we cleaned up and headed to the next event.

The Annual Cascarones Egg Party!

Ready, Set, GO!

Really this event is just a legit excuse to beat on your siblings & friends.

The kids were wild and crazy and had an awesome time!
Afterwards they had snacks and Izze drinks.
My kids never get soda or carbonation.
So this was a HUGE treat.

I glanced over at all the kids discussing their best egg shots
while casually holding their drinks.
Then there's Taylee
kicking back, guzzling away & basking in her carbonation glory.

Needless to say, on the way home I hear
"Mommy my tummy hurts!"

We had such a GOOD Friday!
And to think there's still 2 more days of this long weekend!

Conference Sunday

Twice a year we get to watch "church" on TV.
Ahhh the joys of General Conference weekend.
And aahh the joys of trying to combine that with overly active kids.

We started the morning with excitement to make cinnamon rolls.
That lasted 3.6 minutes.

We played and played.
The kids were already restless and it was finally just now 9am
The time Conference starts.

So I whipped out all the fun Easter activities
to keep them entertained for the next 2 hours.

30 mins into it,
we were already done with 3 crafts.
This is gonna be a long day!

At the halfway point,
I sent them outside for a picnic snack in the warm sunshine.

I'll assume it's sun in their eyes
and not both of them scowling when I asked for a picture!

(Mental note: Teach Anden how to properly hold a baby)

We finally made it through the first session of Conference!
I think I successfully watched 5 continuous minutes of 1 talk.

Then we broke up the day to head to Braylon's birthday party!

Showing off the 2nd tooth he lost in the 1.5 days since they saw each other!

Then we rushed home and dumped the kids in bed for naps.
I curled up on the couch to watch the second session of Conference in peace and quiet.
Within 7 minutes I fell asleep
and missed the whole dang thing.

A for effort?

Bring on Summer

Saturday was our first realization
that it's almost summer!
The weather was gorgeous!

We played outside all day,
went to a birthday party,
and even went swimming with friends until sunset!
Now if only the temp could always stay in the 80s!

And of course I always seem to accidentally capture a "real" portrait of the kids.

Anden trying to smack Taylee as she walks by.
Lovely.
The sword water sprayer was immediately confiscated.

And another one...

#2 is now gone!
I thought I would have some time
before the Tooth Fairy came again.
But I was wrong.

*Disclaimer*
It may or may not have to do with the fact
that he was biting Taylee's shirt and she
ripped it out of his mouth thus causing a loose tooth;
all while both were corralled in the Costco shopping cart.

Regardless,
a week later another tooth found it's way under his pillow!

We were having a picnic dinner on Friday night.
That little redneck tooth was sideways and hanging by a thread.

I couldn't handle it waving at me any longer when he spoke.
So I gave him the courage to give it a little tug.

And it easily came right out!!
So he rinsed out his mouth
(I didn't quite tell him how much blood there was!)
and showed it off!

After that, we played toothless baseball.
That is until Anden hit a line drive right SMACK into my mouth
resulting in a fat bloody lip for me.
Luckily it was a wiffle ball and not a baseball
or I would be toothless as well!

Me & Taylee's barbie ice pack are best friends nowadays!

Eventually we made our way inside and filled out the
Tooth Fairy Invoice.

I found this cute idea online.
It wasn't so cute when I realized the kid gets to
"request" whatever they want for payment.
Anden immediately unrolled his 26 ft mental scroll of "I want" ideas.
While I quickly reminded him this is NOT Santa Claus.
So after some coaching,
he narrowed it down from a new scooter
to a pack of gum.
(thanks to my brilliant cousin Lacie for that idea!)

So we filled it out and carefully placed it under his pillow!
(and yes that's a nighttime shot that I snagged before the Tooth Fairy whisked it away!)

And TADA...
he came rushing down the stairs at 5:51 am (UGH!)
to inform me that he got exactly what he wanted!
