Date: May 1st
One by one all the events are getting cancelled nationwide
and here in Anthem as well.
One of our favorites is Music in May.
Yep those all got cancelled this year too.
No more free concerts in the park every Friday night in May!
However one of our awesome Anthem residents decided to organize
a UTV Light Parade on the first night that would have been Music in May.
Decorate your RZR with lights, music and patriotism
and bring the Music in May to the neighborhoods instead!
The Light Parade is usually an annual Christmas time event.
But everyone jumped at the chance to get out of their homes
and bring joy to our community.
That afternoon I asked Ryan and Anden to go get the RZR ready.
He texted me awhile later that they were done
and to come outside and check it out while they drove past.
Uhhh we're either gonna make friends or enemies tonight!
There's no in between on the Trump topic! haha
We had a quick dinner and then loaded everyone up to head to the staging area at the Outlets.
There had only been 2 wks notice for this parade.
So I wasn't sure how if a lot of people would be in it or supporting it from their driveways
Boy was I wrong!
We pulled in and there were rows and rows and rows of UTVs all lined up
and ready to go!
It wasn't until after the parade when I was looking at the pics on my phone
that I realized Ryan had changed clothes into a Trump shirt and hat!! lol
At least you can't say he's not committed! lol
Just hanging out waiting for the parade to begin...
while keeping our 6 ft social distance from others!
(ok clearly not from our own family members! lol)
Load up and finally heading out!
The organizer posted a video of everyone pulling out of the staging area.
I screenshot it when we went by!
(since I forgot to take a pic of our RZR that night all lit up!)
The parade weaved in and out of most of the neighborhoods in Anthem.
Almost every house along the route had families on their sidewalk cheering and waving.
Such a fun night to bring our community together during such an odd time!
We loved being in the parade and waving to so many people we knew!
The parade lasted for 3 hours!!
We cut out at the 2 hour mark and dumped the little girls in bed.
Such a fun time!
And a much needed chance to get out of the house and see other humans!! lol
