We have had the best past 2 weeks! We just got back from 3 vacations in one! We first started our journey on May 21 by driving to Vegas. Luckily the new Leap Pad kept Anden entertained for about 15 mins! Then a movie and sleep took care of the rest of the drive!
The next morning, Anden awoke and insisted on swimming. So off we went to the pool. It also happened to be Jeremy's big 32nd birthday. So we gave him the pleasure of assisting Anden in the non heated freezing cold pool! Happy Birthday Honey! :-) Luckily they quickly realized the non heated hot tub was a bit warmer. So Taylee and I joined in the fun as well. Notice that we also found the perfect "container" for our wiggly baby!
Our flight to Idaho wasn't until later that day. Since it was Jeremy's birthday, we let him pick the day's activities. He chose to take the kids to Circus Circus. Apparently he had childhood memories of the rides there and wanted to pass them along to his offspring. I'm assuming his memories didn't include second hand smoke inhalation, grungy people, rickety dangerous rides, horrendous tourist outfits and tween girls that looked older than me. But anyway we held our breath and braved the "circus". We got Anden a ride wristband...since he was tall enough to go on about 4 rides. In hindsight, let's just say 3 of the 4 rides were way too dangerous scary for a 39 inch 2 yr old.
He loved the planes since they only lifted up and down and went in circles. The train was absolutely so rickety jerky that it probably would have thrown me from side to side. But yet they allowed little children to ride alone. Anden is the bravest dare devil kid and isn't scared of anything. That is until we put him on that train ride. Our first clue should have been that no other kid in the place was on this ride. Anden made one loop around in pure utter terror before the tears started pouring. Obviously this happens often since the workers immediately stopped the ride and let Anden escape from that beast! I have never seen him remotely scared of anything before and therefore didn't know whether to laugh or cry with him. (OK I admit, we absolutely busted up laughing when we watched the video that they take and try to sell to you afterwards. But hey at least I did feel guilty later for laughing!)
The next ride that proved he was in fact only 2 years old was the Hopper. You know the rides that shoot you straight into the air and then let you fall over and over again? Well this is a mini version of that. And it really wasn't too "mini" compared to the big one. We knew we probably shouldn't have let him go but he really wanted to. It was about the same result as the stupid train ride. It was only him and a random 5 year old. His face in the pictures tells the story. Poor kid!
In order to salvage Anden's pride, I will mention that he hadn't taken a nap that day. I'm sure his tiredness disrupted his level of braveness. After the fun and not so fun rides, we watched the clown show. Taylee loved watching everything and eating the circus map! Anden got to go on stage and participate. Of course he was the smallest kid up there like usual and reveled in the spotlight!
After our insightful circus experience, we rushed to the airport. Little did I know that would be a whole story in itself. That I'll save for Part 2.
