The Birthday Quad was a bit of a surprise gift (for me at least). Jeremy didn't tell me about it until after it was purchased and hiding in our garage. Without destroying Jer's excitement, I kindly hinted that Anden was still too young for his own quad...and that was way too much for a birthday present for a FOUR year old! Obviously my opinion was a tad late. However, we both agreed that Anden would love it (but I knew Jeremy would love it more).
Well let's just say Jer's thrill of giving this to Anden...didn't quite return an equal thrilling moment. We had Anden's eyes all covered and Jer wheeled it around the backyard to him. We were all waiting with cameras and camcorders in hand. "Anden open your eyes!!" He walked over, ripped off the cover and....well...nothing! (I muffled my laughter at this point) Jeremy excitedly encouraged him to check it out. The other kids came running over with much delight. Taylee pushed her way through the masses and climbed up on it. Anden just seemed confused and overwhelmed. Literally no emotion, no smile. He was probably thinking...Oh another quad, there's like 6 of them over on the side of the yard. Then I heard a faint whizzing sound....and realized it was Jeremy's ego slowly deflating! LOL
The next day at church one of our friends (that had known about the quad), excitedly asked Anden "Hey Buddy did you have a Happy Birthday?!" Anden replied, "YEP!" Then she asked him with delight "What did you get??!" Anden replied with equal delight "BATMAN!" She again asked, "Anything else???" He thought about it for a second and answered "YEP AND A MONSTER TRUCK!" I looked at her, shrugged my shoulders and laughed. She then prodded again, "Anything else...something BIG?!!" He was now really confused and looked at me for help. I nudged him by whispering "QUAD!!". Then he turns to her and calmly says "Oh ya and a quad." In between my laughter I heard more whizzing and then sputtering. The last bit of Jer's ego was now deflated.
After church, we were determined to "help" Anden realize how lucky he was to get a real quad for his birthday! We geared him up and away he went. He now loves it!!
Taking Aunt Lyndsay (Wynzee) for a ride!
Taking Mommy for a ride!
Lyndsay attempting a solo ride!
Then we went home and the kids proceeded to perform magic tricks.
Now you see Papa Nolie....
Now you don't....
He obviously underestimated the power of these two and quickly fled to safety
