Anthem Mysteries

Living in Anthem has many advantages.
However one of the MAJOR disadvantages is
the outrageous water rates we have to pay.
We're not technically part of City of Phoenix.
So we have private companies for all our services.
Which can charge whatever they want.
Since there aren't any other options.
So I have to live with paying $8/gallon for water.

Well I opened my water bill the other day and about passed out.
$342.
Yes! You read that correctly.
And we're rarely home and use the smallest amount of water.
Yes, I'll admit I do splurge to have green grass.
But $342 for one month is criminal!

Well it took a few days to overcome my denial.
Several people told me to check my water meter.
Maybe there's a leak.
Maybe it was misread.
I barely know what a water meter even is!
I just knew it was the box in the ground in the front yard.
That one with the huge heavy metal lid.

Well Friday at 6:30am I finally decided to face reality and check the water meter.
I once again almost passed out.
For a different reason.

We now have a new Harbeck Zoo inhabitant.
Any neighbors that weren't awake,
now were after my deathly scream.

How the HECK does a freakin Tarantula get in there?
And make a nest!
That disgusting thing was as big as my entire hand.
My skin still crawls thinking about it!

So one mystery remains,
how am I so lucky to score a new pet Tarantula?!

But one mystery was solved,
I now know why my water bill was so high.
That Greedy Thirsty S.O.B. was splurping away all month.
