Anthem Tree Lighting

11/16/13
Tonight was the annual
Anthem Christmas Tree Lighting!
It's always a major event with lots in attendance!
So after the soccer games that morning I rushed over
to reserve seats for that night.

The events started at 5pm.
We got there a little early and decided to hang out by the
Disney Radio Live Tent.
Before we knew it we were up front dancing.
They needed some parents for a contest.
So of course I got roped into going up front.
But I did manage to drag Anden up with me.
We were then notified that we had to dance to a song.
But we had to do the "Squirrel in my Pants" dance from Phineas & Ferb.
Good thing I'm always game for embarrassing myself for the joy of my children! lol
Because I did just that!

I'm sure Ryan wanted to pretend he didn't know me.
But instead he took lots of pictures for future blackmail!

At this point the song had ended.
I quickly leaned down and told Anden he did a great job.
But more importantly thanked him for staying up there with me!!

Then the DJ had the crowd cheer for which parent they liked the best.
I suddenly felt like the fat kid waiting to get picked for the dodgeball team!
Luckily Anden and I cheered the most for ourselves when they got to us!

All the parents won and we were given a prize!
Which means I quickly gave it to Anden for his awesome team work!

Next up they played a musical chairs type game.
Both Anden and Taylee got picked for that one!
They were so excited!

These two are SO competitive.
Judging by Anden's face he was probably telling Taylee he was gonna take her down!
Luckily that little girl definitely knows how to hold her own! lol

Taylee got out first.
But she was happy she still won a prize.
Then Anden continued a few more rounds before he got out.

Finally Radio Disney closed up shop and the main concerts were about to begin.
We found our way back to our seats!

Each year Anthem brings in popular Pop artists that are on the rise and family friendly.
Each year I know exactly who each band is and usually have their albums.
Not sure if that means I listen to teeny bop music or that I just love music in general?!
Ryan had no clue who either group was this year.
Taylee and I caught him up on Pop Culture so he would be prepared.

I think Taylee was a tad excited for the concert to begin. lol

We were front row of the general seating.
Which was perfect because the kids could hang on the fence and dance/sing along.

After the introductions and tribute to our community,
the concert began.

First up was
Megan and Liz.
They are twin sisters from Minnesota.
They were so cute and did great!
Taylee had been practicing their songs for the previous week and sang along!
And of course I did too! :)

Anden just chilled and watched the show from his seat.
But I know he secretly was singing in his head and enjoying it!

After Megan and Liz,
the headliner came on.
Bonnie McKee.
Let's just say she didn't get the memo that this was a family friendly event.

Taylee quickly asked me why she forgot her pants.
Uhhhhhh good question honey!
Here why don't you just color with the girls next to us instead.

Bonnie McKee has an amazing voice and is extremely talented.
She's a song writer first and has written basically every hit in the last couple of years.
She recently started singing her own songs instead.
And yes I have her album as well.
But not the type of gyrating across the stage in panties concert I would take my children to!
Ryan, on the other hand, suddenly wasn't bummed about missing his friend's bachelor party that night.
Because he surprisingly got the same entertainment at the Anthem family event!!

After Bonnie danced her little half covered butt off the stage,
the MC and Santa came on to light the tree!

We all counted down from 10....
And the Christmas Season officially kicked off!!

The fake snow started blowing.
The kids tried to catch it in their mouth.
Ewh. Ewh.
It's glorified chemical foam guys!

Taylee wanted to take our picture.
She did her best to stop wiggling.
Which is impossible lol

Then we loaded up and tried to beat traffic out of there.
Such a fun family night!!

However,
I'm sure Anthem Community Council is currently drafting their apology letter
to the community for the unexpected family peep show.
Hey you can't win over them all! lol
