Summer Camping Trip - 7/14

Date: July 14th

We woke up to clean freshly rained mountain air!
Ahh love that smell!
And yes that means we somehow survived the night with 2 toddlers in our tent
and a plethora of rain and bugs hitting the outside of the tent!!

I made breakfast while everyone just roamed around.
And while Laiky played in the every spec of mud still left from last night's rain.

The girl power for the weekend!

The kids were SO ecstatic to just roam and play outside
without melting to death!
I love that we're 1-2 hours from the mountains and much cooler temps!!

The kids were on the quads nonstop!

Finally we did a girls only quad ride.
I took Laiky with me and Heidi and Taylee were on the other one.

Yes Laiky was muddy and filthy the entire trip! lol

I had the girls stop and took the a few pictures of how gorgeous the sky was
with the rain clouds looming.
Immediately after that it started a torrential downpour.
We had just started our trek back down the mountain to our campsite.
We were soaking and being pelted SO hard!!
We were rushing as fast as we could while still being safe.
Just then our knight in red shining armour whipped up the trail in the big red truck!
lol ryan and Anden jumped out and told us to take the truck back.
So the soaking wet girls all jumped in the truck where little Easlie was waiting for us.
Then the boys road the quads back in the downpour!

Quick group selfie now that we're safe!! haha

It was a quick dumping of rain and then the clouds moved out.
We were back out immediately playing.

Target Practice

We had planned originally to go swimming at Grasshopper Point back towards Sedona.
But with the rain off/on we weren't sure we should still attempt it.
So we put Eastlie down for nap and figured we would see what the weather was after that.
Well 10 minutes later Eastlie comes casually walking
out of the tent so proud of herself for crawling out of the pack and play! AGHHHH!!
We tried to put her back in
but 5 minutes later she was back outside.
Ok forget it.
Let's just load up and go swimming now!

10 minutes into the drive....
Ya they're not as big as they think they are! lol

Laiky couldn't even finish her lollipop before passing out! lol

By the time we got to Grasshopper Point they were completely in a deep sleep!
Poor babies lol

So I chilled in the car with them while everyone else headed down to the swimming hole

They eventually woke up and we headed down to meet everyone.
And yes it was a light rain sprinkling the entire time we were there.
At least someone nice had left an easy up canopy.
So hid under there.
The rest of our crew didn't even notice the rain since they were swimming anyway!

Oh this girl just melts my heart!
She just wanted to snuggle her blankey (which she has to wrap around her every time)
and chill in the chair!

My twinners

Laiky suddenly decided to start posing and being a ham for pictures!
Heck I'll take that any day over scowling and picking her nose! haha

The whole crew!

The rain was starting to come down harder and the sun was setting.
So we hurried and loaded up and headed back to camp!

Saying I was unprepared for the weather was a gross understatement!
I literally didn't even pack a pair of pants for any of us!
I did manage to remember a light jacket.
I just forget that even though Phoenix is burning up the rest of the world isn't!
Luckily Hiedi let me borrow a pair of her pants...that I wore the entire time and slept in too! lol
I was freezing!

Taylee's dessert still on her face! lol or maybe it's mud?!

We made lots of campfire treats for dessert
and just chilled and laughed and chatted!

Tonight was a bit trickier to talk the girls into staying in their own tent.
They made the mistake the previous night of leaving a "night light" on...
which obviously attracted a ton of bugs into their tent!
So they were a bit scarred to go to bed tonight! lol I don't blame them.
Eventually we built up their courage and then locked them in their tent! ;)

Then Ryan and I started the L.O.N.G. night of being in the same tent with 2 toddlers!
I really tried to keep my complaining to a low mumble in my head! lol
But dang, tent camping with littles is just a ton of work!
But everyone was having a blast so it was worth it!
