Soccer Game #5

It was definitely a chilly morning.
The kids played hard!
Is it bad that I can't remember if we won or lost? lol oops

But I do remember that Tracy showed up
with a thermos of hot apple cider
and that made the fans' day!

Veteran's Day

The kids had school off on Monday for Veteran's Day.
So I took off also!
We met up with Holly & the kids
and we hit up

We still were in the middle of our "cold front".
So we bundled up
and were sweating 20 mins later.

The kids had a blast!

We even got to feed
(hurl fruit at)
the Elephant
that had apparently just finished
searching headfirst for the needle in the haystack.

Taylee was less than impressed when we saw the Jaguars
 and told the worker
"Oh ya well we have a Bobcat in our backyard!"

But they were impressed with the gigantic tortoises.
Check it out kids, there's Ninjey in 50 years!
Then maybe we'll be able to find where he's hiding!

Then we saw the Grandpappy of all Tortoises.
Maybe on second thought it's not such a bad thing Ninjey ran away.
Because I'm sure as heck not taking care of a pet that could slowly bull doze through my fence.

More Animals

More Caged Animals

We finally made our way over to the Kid's Area.

Seriously?!
What is his fascination with Butts??
At least his friends think he's hilarious.

Lucy picked the most docile animals to pet.
The goats standing ON the bench in the middle of a head butting brawl.

I'm pretty sure this one was their fave animal.

Ok back to real animals

Of course we had to go into the gross reptile, etc exhibits.
These little dudes were my fave!

But considering I  already lost Ninjey,
there's NO way I could keep track of these little buggers!

Our last stop was to see the cute little prarie dogs.
As all the other kids were oohing and aahing
while keeping their hands to themselves,
I noticed Anden discreetly bend down,
pick up something,
and chuck it into the exhibit.

Well of course the prarie dog ran right over to it and picked it up.
And wouldn't let go of it.
All of the other parents were totally laughing.
I wanted to die.

Apparently Product Placement occurs at the Zoo too.
"This exhibit is brought to you by Baby Trend"

I snuck a picture with my face shielded
then grabbed the offender and bolted out of there.

And we literally ended on that note.
Good times at the Phoenix Zoo!

Mini Vacation - Part 2

Prescott: Day 2

We brought the best toys ever for this trip.
Remote control cars!
I knew the kids would love to play with them in the long hallways.
It was a total hit and kept them super entertained
As well as the other guests!

It was a chilly morning.
So after breakfast we hit up the Hot Tub again!
I remembered my camera this time.

Anden decided that he wanted to jump into the 50 degree pool!
I didn't think he would really follow through with it.
The kid is nuts!

Then as soon as I put the camera down.
CRAZY Taylee decided to jump in too!
I swear these kids have no fear!

Along with the remote control cars,
we now carried around one of the new freebies from the Hockey game also.
The camo basketball!

Sadly it was time to check out.
The staff knew the kids by now and wished us well!

We loaded up and decided to head over to Lynx Lake again.
It was a clear sunny but chilly day!
Perfect for a little nature walk!

The kids did manage to find a tiny bit of leftover snow in the shade.
And of course they quickly licked it up.

We walked the other way around the lake this time past the dam.

We found a huge piece of bark.
Which the kids immediately tried to lick the snow off of it.
Ewh! Ewh!

Finally it was time to leave.
So we loaded up our bag of pine cones, leaves, rocks, branches
and made the hour drive back to the desert.

We had such an awesome time on our mini trip.
I always ask the kids each day what their favorite part of the day was.
Their answer was the same as the day before.
"The Hotel!!!"
But at least this time they did give honorable mentions
to the Hot Tub and Hot Cocoa Bar.
So much for outdoor natural beauty.
