Flag Football - Season Wrap Up

Date: February

Anden's team has had games every Saturday in Jan/Feb.
They've improved so much and won two games and barely lost most of the rest!
Anden has had an amazing season!
He had 3 games in a row with an interception.
He scored at least two touchdowns in each game too.
He just all around really enjoys football!

A rare shot of the Tasmanian Toddler contained

Touchdown!!

Feb 20th was a Double Header!
In between the games they had a team lunch at Barros to celebrate their win!

I rushed to Taylee's soccer tournament and had to miss Anden's second game.
But luckily the other coach's wife is awesome to take all these pics for the team!!

The tournament was 2/27.
They were placed 4th seed and had a great chance in the tourney.
They fought so hard but barely lost the first game.
They were heartbroken!!
I felt so bad when some of the tough boys were even crying!
Needless to say they couldn't shake off that loss
and ended up losing the 2nd game too.

This was the controversial play that changed the entire game.
We were down by a few points late in the 2nd half.
Alex was backed into the end zone and threw the ball a split second before his flag got pulled.

Bronco snatched the ball out of the air and ran it ALL the way down the field for a touchdown!!!
The kids and parents were freaking out!!
We were now winning with a short amount of time left!!

And suddenly the referees decided to make a late call and say Alex was sacked in the end zone
thus taking away our go ahead touchdown and giving the other team a safety instead!!

Our team was devastated and the coaches (ok Ryan!) were furious!!
I felt so bad for the kids!
Kat got a pic of their shocked/sad reactions!

They tried to shake it off but that single play broke their little hearts!

After the game we tried to cheer everyone up and wipe away the tears.
We had to immediately play again on a different field.
So it didn't give them enough time to emotionally bounce back.

It was tough day!
But we were all so proud of the boys for their heart
and gritting through calls that just don't go your way.

I agree it sucks to lose.
I was pretty upset about that one stupid bad call too.
But it definitely is a good life lesson
and character building experience for these kiddos!

Most of the boys are signed up again for Spring league!
So it'll be another few HOT months of nonstop football action!
