We got a babysitter for Taylee but Jeremy was adamant that Anden "needed" to come along. In other words, I was the 3rd wheel. The boys were so excited! Our friends, the Ashworths, were back in town for the weekend to go too! They had bought their tickets months ago (and before they moved!) Us, on the other hand, bought ours earlier in the week. I was shocked when I clicked "best available" on the ticket options and found some that were way down close. So I excitedly hit purchase. It wasn't until we arrived that we realized we were on ROW TWO! You could smell the dirt! You could see the expressions on the riders faces! We were thrilled. Then it quickly dawned on me....I couldn't see the rest of the course; just the jumps and the turn right in front of us. Then after it started, it dawned on me that I also couldn't hear anything, was becoming asphyxiated with exhaust fumes and could practically feel the dirt spraying up on us as they rounded the corner. Hhmm, I quickly realized WHY those tickets were still available. Geez, the one time we ever get floor seats and it's the worst seats in the arena! (ok so maybe not the actual worst! The people 3 stories up probably needed a Sherpa to get them there!) Then it really dawned on me as to why the boys invited me.....they knew it would be too dang loud to talk!!! So there I sat in silence for the next 3 hours with my ears pounding and my heart racing (from lack of oxygen) while I watched dirt bikes fly over the same 3 jumps all while having NO clue who was winning or losing. At least there was a nice crowd of nascar loving, redneck pride, tattooed and pierced up folk for me to gawk at. I was so out of place by forgetting to wear my Fox halter top and shredded jean booty shorts. But I especially loved the additional free entertainment provided by the drunk girls 4 rows behind us that got into an all out brawl which turned into 20 people fighting and security trying to break it up. That was really fun to explain to Anden why girls were punching each other in the faces and ripping their clothes off.
Honestly though, I did have a good time and was impressed at what a huge production this was! I had no idea. Ya, I've seen it on the Speed Channel (courtesy of Jeremy). But I didn't realize what a big deal it was. So thanks Jeremy (and Ashworths) for enlightening me on how the other world lives! :-)
