California Girls

This past weekend Ashley Pasko and I escaped to California! Woohoo! We went to visit her family and also fit in one last summer beach vacation. We realized that in all the travels we've taken together (Thailand, Costa Rica, Hawaii, NYC, New Orleans, etc, etc) we have NEVER taken a road trip! So off we drove into the sunset...in the sexy space bubble hybrid mobile!

It didn't take long after we arrived to realize that California is FREEZING compared to Arizona! Perfect jacket weather. Not so perfect beach weather. We froze our butts off.

Carlsbad Beach

Yes it was a balmy 68 degrees.
Completely overcast and breezy.
No need for sunscreen.
Heck, no need for swimsuits.

La Jolla Cove Beach

Since La Jolla is always cold, we didn't even attempt swimsuits and instead played with the camera! And yes, we hurried and took off our jackets for the pictures then smiled and froze! And even more uncomfortable than the weather was posing solo for a picture! lol

Oceanside Beach

Oceanside is where we stayed. Little did we know that they have probably the best all around family beach in Southern Cali! Unfortunately we didn't go to this beach until Sunday afternoon! There was a surf competition that day. So we sat there fully clothed, relaxing on the beach and enjoyed the crazy surfer fools in the freezing water. Oh and all while making phone calls to see if our husbands and children were still alive!

Overall it was a great trip!!

OK other than Ash's family folklore "short cut" directions that took us up and over the Rocky Mountains! I guess you really should trust the GPS over a faded, torn, crumpled, scribbled hieroglyphic treasure map...especially when the GPS is screaming "U TURN, U TURN"!

But I especially loved when I asked for the final address and Ash calmly replies "Oh I don't know. That part got torn off" I knew then it was going to be an exciting trip! lol

  1. In years gone by.
    I dreamed...

"I have watched you on the shore
    Standing by the ocean's roar
Do you love me do you surfer girl
    Surfer girl surfer girl"
