11-11-11

Happy
11-11-11

I definitely wanted to post something today
just because the date is super cool!

Originally this was a positive post about having a lucky day.

But then my day took a spin.

So at about 7:45pm we were headed home from dinner in Anthem. I was cruising along Hastings, a quiet calm street that runs behind my house.  It's super dark and suddenly I notice something in the road.  As I realized it appeared to be some sort of cement blocks laid perfectly across the road, it was way too late to do anything other than flinch and HIT it.  It was SO loud and felt like it ripped the entire front of my car off.  I immediately felt my tires blow so I pulled over and calmed down the kids.  I was right by the turn to my neighborhood so I crept the flat tires slowly home and up into my driveway.  I was completely SICK yet so ticked that someone would do something SO dangerous and just stupid.  So we got out and examined the damage.  One tire was already blown out and flat.  Two more were bubbled and ready to blow.  There was cement dust all over the car.  Well I didn't know what to do other than hurry and walk back there and move whatever it was before someone else hit it.  So I gathered up the kids and we hurried back there.  As we're walking we hear "BOOM" and yep someone else hit it too.  As we came around the corner we could see what what left.  Lovely.  Full on CEMENT CURBING!!  Any bets that there were a handful of idiotic teenage kids hiding in the dark laughing?

I think there's an increasing brain chromosome deficiency that occurs with each generation.  I'll admit I did my own stupid teenage tricks but nothing like this.  And I'm sure that my parents thought we were dumber than they were.  And now it's confirmed this generation is dumber than I was!  Anyway as I'm lugging what I thought were going to be cinder blocks out of the road, I was beyond ticked yet thankful it wasn't worse.  Right then another guy was walking up the street in the dark.  His wife was in a Tahoe and hit it after I did.  Luckily she had a higher clearance and therefore only scraped up her tires.  I told him he could thank me for taking the initial blow and leaving her with what was left!  She had just gotten home and was shook up too.  So he was coming to clear the street.  He was surprised to see someone else was already out there doing the community duty!  So we chatted while I'm sure the perpetrators where crapping their pants hiding in the bushes.  Then we all walked back home...to figure out what the heck I was going to do with my car.

Long story short.

Amount of time it took the idiots to haul the cement blocks: 20 minutes
Amount of time the blocks sat in the road: 3 minutes
Amount of time it took to pop 3 of my tires: 2.7 seconds
Amount of money spent replacing 3 tires: $450

Being the LUCKIEST girl on the LUCKIEST date in history:  Priceless

Telling the kids we got the same car for Christmas...with new tires:  Not so Priceless
