Winter is Here!!

Well at least for one weekend!!

So we're making the most of enjoying the COLD while it lasts!

And I'm not being sarcastic (for once)

It's been in the low 60s

and 40s at night.

That's frigid for us!

Last night dinner was over the campfire.

(well my skills only involve a duraflame, so chemical campfire it is!)

Another rainstorm had just passed

so I was relieved to move the plan back outside

and not on the kitchen floor over an open burning oven

with kids' heads and sticks shoved inside.

So outside we went.

Luckily Anden far surpasses me in the camping department

and was a big help!

We attempted Roasting Hot Dogs.

After throwing 4 burnt ones over the fence,

Anden asked if we could just make them in the microwave instead.

SOLD!

Anden, being true to his male roots, is a pyro.

So he spent the night burning anything in sight.

When it came to Marshmallow time,

I carefully taught Taylee how to be patient and make the perfectly toasted treat.

Anden's input to this gourmet lesson,

"Taylee you wanna see how they burn?"

As he grabs a handful of marshmallows and hurls them into the fire.

"Cool huh?!"

She was about as impressed as I was.

When I finally finished roasting the perfect marshmallow for each kid,

Anden claimed he suddenly doesn't like brown marshmallows.

Taylee dropped hers on the ground .2 secs after I handed it to her.

Thus 2 more items got thrown over the fence.

So the only ones that ate last night

were the coyotes and javelinas.

They were so grateful for the feast we provided for them.

And kindly let me hear it all night

But at least we had a great time with our "camp fire".

And I only had to tackle one kid that was smoldering

and accidentally tear off his ears

while frantically ripping off his sweatshirt.

"Mommy I don't know how that happened.

I think the fire must have flipped on me when you turned around."
