Another Finger Mishap

After the soccer games,
I decided to just come home and make lunch
instead of the usual drive thru.

I quickly learned that was a bad idea.

While I was making quesadillas (Anden's fave),
I opened up a can of olives that I was getting ready to pour into a bowl.

Of course the quesadillas needed flipping
(the kids don't like ANY brown spots)
so I quickly left the can on the island counter.

The kids were chillin and watching cartoons.
Yet somehow Lil Miss Busy Body
had snuck up behind me and was on the counter
stealing an olive from the can.

However I didn't know this until she calmly said
"Mommy I cut my finger"
And then the blood started gushing from her pointer finger.
And the tears & screams started gushing too.
I wanted to die.
She had sliced her finger on the can lid
in the 6 seconds that I had turned around.
And I didn't know a tiny little finger could bleed that much.

I went through 5 paper towels trying to get it to stop
while calmly assuring her it'll be ok
and internally freaking out whether I should take her to ER for stitches.
We have yet to avoid a hospital visit.
This surely couldn't be the first one?!

So I said a little Mommy Prayer and continued my attempt at Nursing.
(while texting my real Nurse friend Ashley for advice!)
Eventually we rigged a paper towel bandage contraption
and got the bleeding to stop.

Poor little thing.
My heart broke for her.

So over the week we moved to a smaller bandage each day.
Now she's down to nothing!
Who knew a little finger slice could have been SO traumatic!

Here's what she sported to church the next day!
At least she makes it look adorable!
(and of course the ever present "hand on the hip"attitude is still intact!)

There were so many lessons learned from this little experience.
But the main one,
Just go out to eat instead of pretending to be domestic!

(and I only  joke about it now that she's perfectly ok! lol)
