Another day in Mountain Paradise!
You just can't help but smile to roll over and wake up to this view!
We were back on the water the second our sleepy booger eyes focused!
The only thing that could pull us back inside are
monster size pancakes!
lol ahhh gotta love a good ole fashioned farmer breakfast!
Then we were right back outside.
for another fun day on the lake!
Luke, Melanie and the girls were arriving that afternoon.
We could barely contain our excitement until then!
Starting the morning with non motorized sports
Taylee was insistent that she could paddle the kayak by herself.
So I let her try.
The boys rescued her soon after when she turned herself in circles and got stuck in the weeds!
We quickly realized non motorized sports are too much work! lol
Back to tubing!
Finally we decided to slow down the pace and try out fishing again.
But first Ryan and Aaron headed to the country store to pick up some fancy "power bait".
They were on a mission to catch something today!
Anden did his own fishing while they were gone.
That kid is a crawdad magnet!
He just kept plucking them out from every rock. ewh!
Finally the men and children set out fishing
Ryan and Aaron weren't accepting fishy defeat again!
Ryan was the first one to get a fish nap!
While they were out fishing I attempted paddle boarding.
and I didn't even end up with a sliced foot!
Finally the Mighty Fisherman returned
without any prizes
or a single bite!
At least the kids had fun! lol
As they were paddling in,
the 9 year old next door threw out his line,
within minutes he had a big bite.
Ryan picked up his damaged pride and ran over to help him reel it in.
It was the closest he had been to catching his own fish! lol
Back to playing.
At least Anden loved casting, reeling, casting, reeling
with nothing to show for it!
Then Anden tempted his balance on the paddle board.
Ryan and his bummed toe were banned from it.
Or maybe it was that Anden was banned from being around Ryan on it! lol
All of this fun really wore out Papa Nolie!
Yes if you fall asleep in public,
you will get your picture taken! :)
I'm sure he loves waking up to see his offspring laughing with a camera in his face!
Love you Papa Nolie!!
In order to squash the "When are Brylee & Jeslynn gonna be here??" questions,
we went out on the boat again.
I grew up skiing before wakeboarding took over.
I still love the intensity of skiing.
However I'm picky.
The water has to be glass!
Which means basically the only time I ski is at the cabin!
With that gorgeous glass water,
I happily took my turn.
Then Ryan decided he wanted to give it a try.
He had heard us all laugh about Aaron's mighty double ski skills.
So he of course had to beat him.
He had double skiied a few times when he was a kid.
So we threw in the "fat boy" skis and he gave it a whirl.
The Gravens were his cheering squad on shore.
HIT IT!
And just like that he was up and cruising around!
Sorry but there's something about grown men double skiing that just cracks me up!
But hey at least they still try!!
Finally he dropped the rope and we swung back around.
He explained that the ski was hurting his cut toe.
So he would just try to slalom ski instead.
Dad quickly tried to explain to him that probably wouldn't work
and how slalom skiing is way different and harder.
Ryan wasn't phased and threw one ski back in the boat.
Dad was still hesitant and worried he would get hurt.
I assured Dad that Ryan was really coordinated so let's give him a shot.
HIT IT!
One pull and he was up!! lol
Dad's jaw dropped.
"Just when I thought I've seen it all!"
We were cracking up laughing.
We still secretly think Ryan was an old school slalom skier just like us but in a past life!
Aaron couldn't be outdone.
So he put those trusty double skis on and took his turn too!
Love Aaron...but I also love when he does the splits on the wake!
Lol sorry man but thanks for the gut busting humor!
When we got back to the dock,
to our surprise Luke, Mel and the girls were FINALLY here!!!
WOOHOO!!
So we immediately drug Luke around the lake
to show these newbie boys how to really ski!
Then it was NONSTOP cousin playing!!
They loved every minute together!
Melanie and the kids kayaking
Luke paddle boarding
During all the play,
the boys decided to attempt fishing again.
This time just from the dock.
While they impatiently didn't even get a single bite with their "power bait",
we watched as the same 9 year old next door caught fish after fish!!
The girls found this hilarious.
The boys not so much!
But the best part is that the kid next door yells over if we want the fish
because he was just going to throw it back in.
The boys froze.
Staring at each other as to who was going let down their pride first.
Finally the girls spoke up,
"HECK YA WE'LL TAKE IT!! IT'S NOT LIKE WE'RE CATCHING ANY OVER HERE!"
The boys were still frozen.
Finally Ryan ran over and grabbed it from the kid
and manually attached the fish to the end of Anden's pole.
lol Anden was ecstatic!
I assured him it doesn't matter how you got the fish
just as long as you have a picture to prove it!
The boys yelled back and thanked the little boy and asked,
"Hey what kind of bait/lures are you using anyway?"
The innocent high pitched reply came back,
"Worms and Marshmallows!"
We all busted up laughing.
The rest of the boys' pride burst
along with their expensive "power bait".
From there we just kept playing outside
while the little boy continued to catch more fish
and give them to us!!
I personally think it was genius on our part to have child labor do the dirty work.
But others didn't see it my way! lol
Strong Uncle Lukey with the crazy "twins"!
Eventually the boys, still admitting defeat, set out for a sunset fish.
I busted up laughing when I looked over and saw
The Three Stooges
paddling into the sunset together.
Apparently Larry wasn't trusted with a paddle.
So he got the illustrious job of Spotter
The kids played in the hot tub while awaiting the Mighty Fisherman's return.
Finally Anden decided he had enough of the girls
and ventured back to the end of the dock to fish.
He perched himself there and was perfectly content
while waiting for the boys to return.
Although he was secretly wishing one day he could be the Fourth Stooge.
Papa Nolie saw Anden out there alone and walked over to him.
I was roasting marshmallows at the fire pit watching the scene unfold.
Papa Nolie lovingly took the one on one moment to bond with his grandson.
He showed him how to flip the crate over that he was sitting on
and stick the fishing pole into the holes of the crate to brace itself
Then they both stood back and admired their auto-fishing contraption.
Right then I hear dad shriek and I see the crate go flying into the lake.
Dad is frozen with his hands in the air
and then just busts out laughing.
I jump up anxiously wondering what the heck happened.
Through Dad and Anden's laughter and shock they explained.
Apparently the Island Park Loch Ness Monster
snagged Anden's lure and pulled so hard on it
it pulled the entire fishing pole AND crate into the water!
They watched in disbelief as the pole went zooming across the lake!!
Dad said he had that split second moment of do I jump into the lake and chase it
or stand here frozen in shock!
He chose the latter.
Anden was a bit miffed that something just stole his fishing pole.
But we assured him that it was way more of a "bite" than the
Three Stooges were getting at that moment!
Needless to say Anden was on the shore ready to blurt out his Tall Fishing Tale
to the other Fishermen upon their return.
They listened in shock
and then had to humbly admit to him
they didn't get a single bite from a minnow
let alone a whale.
Anden beamed!
On that high note,
we headed inside for the night.
But I can't end without a pic of these two cute crazy kiddos!
All bathed and ready for bed!
