Sunday morning Ryan and Anden went fishing at the park.
(yes I know I know I told him that's not REAL fishing if you go a mile to a catch/release stocked pond!)
They were out the door by 7:30am!
I let them have their boy time for awhile
and then showed up later to bring them breakfast!
I'm not sure who loved it more.
Anden just loves to roam outdoors.
So he would throw his line in and then go explore.
Anden had picked his own lure.
Of course the biggest and most obnoxious one available lol
So we had to inspect that for awhile
and then he built it a little nest to keep it warm until they were done fishing.
Because you all know he wasn't leaving that thing there.
He was bringing it home to hatch it.
Back to Fishing
Until Anden's line got stuck in the waterfall.
Luckily Ryan to the rescue
and wrestled it free!
Then back to exploring.
He stalked down the geese
And then it was back to fishing!

His line would barely throw because the lure was so heavy!
So Ryan adjusted it for him.
Fish, Explore, Fish, Explore.
Finally Anden comes running to me yelling,
"Mommy I got a goose egg!!!"
I lovingly replied,
"Oh no honey how did that happen?!"
He exclaims again,
"NO! I found a REAL goose egg!"
And and by golly he really had a big old goose egg in his hands!
So we had to inspect that for awhile
and then he built it a little nest to keep it warm until they were done fishing.

He stalked down the geese
I'm not quite sure.
But it appears he's having a conversation with the goose.
"Hey so do you know you left your kid over there?
Don't worry I'm gonna take it home and raise it!"
He didn't understand why the goose took off
after he tried to pull one of its feathers out! lol
And then it was back to fishing!
At this point Anden found yet another thing new to entertain him.
He hollers over,
"Hey Guys I caught a duck!!!"
We whip around confused.
Yep he sure did!
A dead one floating upside down.
Disgusting! lol
And you know he reeled that thing on in
and inspected his catch of the day.
Suddenly I was way more supportive about him
bringing home a random goose egg
instead of a dead bloated duck!
Clearly the Anthem pond is the best.
You don't need a fishing license
or a hunting license!
At this point I was done with the duck inspection and headed home
while the boys continued their nature excursion!
They had a blast that morning!
And yes I still have a goose egg in a thoughtfully built nest
sitting in a bowl on my kitchen counter.
Do I have the heart to tell him there's definitely no baby goose coming anytime soon?
Do I have the guts to throw it away without his permission?
No and No.
So there it'll remain on the counter for the unforeseen future! lol
