The Crib Skirt Project

Months ago I started decorating the nursery.
Well life got busy and I moved on to several different projects
and never finished the last few nursery things.
That is until now.

Taylee and I tackled one of the final projects on the list this week.
Making a crib bed skirt.

You see my nursery colors aren't the typical commercial baby colors
therefore everything had to be custom made or pieced together on my own.
I just couldn't digest spending $500 on custom crib bedding
so I got creative instead.
I had bought material back in April to use for curtains
and didn't end up using it.

So I scoured online how to make a crib skirt with it instead.
However there were certain parameters involved:

1 - Must not involve a sewing machine
2- Must not involve any expertise on sewing, cutting, pinning, etc
3 - Must be idiot proof

I'm pretty confident finding my way around most craft projects
but sewing/material are just out of my element.
And quite frankly scare me!

So I assigned Taylee as my assistant and moral support cheerleader
and we tackled this project.

Taylee decided half way through to ditch me and treat herself to an ice cream sandwich.
Good thing she kept on her white gloves
...um as to not get her hands dirty?! lol

Stitch Witchery and an Iron were the secret weapons to finish the job.
Too bad even those totally intimidated me! lol

Finally I got it all 'fake hemmed'
and we went upstairs to attempt to piece it together.

Tada!!
The finished product!
(I swear it really is even! The ceiling fan is blowing it!)

I guess it's sometimes good to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Maybe next time I'll actually even break out my sewing machine!
Oh wait...as long as someone can come over and thread it for me! :)
