Anden's football season is about halfway done!
So I figured it was long overdue for an update!
They moved to the 9-10 year old division and also combined with another league.
Let's just say both the new division and the new league
are MUCH harder than before!
But the boys are working together and stepping up to the challenge!
There's been close games and blow out games
but we're 2-3 right now!
I think that's pretty dang good considering the competition is tough!
Game 1: Sept 17th
The first week we had a bye when the rest of the league played and got their jitters out.
So it was tough coming into Week 2 for our first game.
This season the coaches also can't go out on the field.
They have to call in the plays from the sidelines.
So it was definitely a transition game getting used to the changes and the new league.
The boys played well but we lost.
Pre Game cleat and flag check!
Game 2: Sept 24th
This game was right before Taylee's baptism.
So Anden was a little bummed I wouldn't paint his mohawk!
C'mon they went straight from the game to the church.
I didn't quite think a blue/orange mohawk would be appropriate! haha
Again the boys played hard but lost.
Game 3: Oct 1st
We finally got our first win and boost to the self esteem!
The boys dominated this game.
It was great to see grinning faces afterwards for all the hard work they've put in!!
Games 4 - Oct 8th
This day we had a double header and it was a hot one also!
I didn't make the first game as Taylee had a soccer game at the same time.
But Taylee and I cruised on down to make it to his second game!
The first game was against the defending State Champions.
(yes this team is unbelievably good and freak of nature tall/large kids!)
Needless to say we fought hard but got blown out, as has every single team that's played them!!
From the looks of the pictures that Kat took,
Anden must have been involved in every single play this game!
So here's a ton of pics from this game!
Usually Anden plays running back and defense.
But I guess he got a few catches this game too!
Here's their little flea flicker play.
Alex hands it off to Anden.
Anden pitches it back to Alex
who then throws it deep back to Anden.
Even this play confused the Mighty Giant opponents!
Game 5 - Oct 8th
Taylee and I made it for the second game of the day.
This was such an exciting back and forth game.
We ended up tying the game with seconds left.
I thought it would stay with a tie as time ran out.
But I guess in this league it goes to overtime.
Our team didnt' know this and therefore we scrambled to get set.
It was a quick they get one down to score and then we do.
They went first and Anden jumped in and pulled the flag before the kid could score!!!
So then we got our turn and boom threw it in the end zone and Jacob caught it!!
We won!!
Such a fun game!!
Love this picture of Jacob's mom rushing to give him a hug
while the other coach's son is leaping in the foreground!
I just love sports and the emotions it brings out in all of us!
(specifically the good emotions! lol)
What a fun hard earned game with a total team effort!
Now we just have 3 more games left in this season before the playoffs!
