The Invisible Turtle

On Wednesday night
my friend Shae came over to do my hair.

During that time,
Taylee took the liberty to "rescue" Ninjey
from his beloved outdoors
and bring him inside to play.

Of course I was faced the other direction and
couldn't monitor every movement.
Probably 30 minutes went by and the kids had moved upstairs to play.

I hollered upstairs,
"Taylee where's Ninjey?!"
Down came the high pitched little girl reply
"Oops I left him down there"

That was the end of it.
We searched every inch of the house
with a flash light
and the turtle had disappeared.

Well Taylee had also left the patio door open.
So I prayed he crawled on outside
instead of into my room.

Because you see,
we all have that "one" closet
(or room..or floor)
in the house that is the disaster zone.
Mine happens to be my master closet.
(ok and maybe the den, toy room, craft room, etc, etc)
My bedroom is the only one on the main floor.
Right off of the room where Ninjey went MIA.
So I told the kids that if Ninjey crawled into my room
1- I would be utterly disgusted and would sleep in a new room.
2- My closet would most definitely eat him.
I can barely make it out of my closet alive.
A tiny baby turtle would have no hope.

I finally gave up at 11pm
after searching the main floor for the 5th time with my flashlight.
The turtle was nowhere!
Taylee "couldn't" remember if she carried him upstairs or outside.
I was praying for outside.
I texted Shae that I was giving up for the night.
She assured me he had to be outside
as she had personally performed her own sweep of the house too.
Who's texting about turtles at 11pm anyway?!

So the next morning I set the food trap
(plate of broccoli, his fave)
by the patio door.
In my sheer brilliance,
I figured if the food was still there upon return,
Ninjey wasn't.
If the food was gone,
Ninjey's here.

I came home after a LONG day at 8pm to find this.

CRAP!
The turtle is most definitely IN the house!
I sighed and got out the trusty flashlight again.
I immediately started in the kitchen.
And tada!
There he was all hiding in plain view
under the kitchen desk.
You little terd!

And as you can see,
he's about the size of an olive can!
So there's a reason why I panic when the kids "forget" to watch him!

I hurried and texted Shae the great news.
The rodent or varmint or whatever he is,
is back outside where he belongs!

It's still a mystery as to where he was hiding the previous night.
All I can believe is he had an invisible cloak.
