Rainy Basketball Day

The weatherman was right!
It rained and it rained and IT RAINED Saturday!

I was a tad miffed that they cancelled
Little League Opening Ceremonies
a few days prior due to the impending rain set for Saturday.
C'mon wimpy Arizonans?!
It's called an umbrella.
(Although it did lighten up our crazy sports schedule that day!)

We woke up and it had rained a ton during the night
but was now just misty outside.
The kids begged to jump on the wet trampoline
in their pajamas.
I'm just that cool to let them!
(easy decision since half the kids aren't mine! lol)

You might wonder why I always seem to have the Mortensen kids with me.
Well for starters they are best buds with my kids.
And also we've come full circle in the last 3 months.
The Mortensen family has now moved back in with us for awhile.
Their temp rental house lease is up
however their old house isn't finished yet.
(remember the fire?! ugh!)
So we gladly opened our doors once again
and have a multi-family commune!

While Ash, Ty & Cash ran around finishing the move,
the kids and I all played.
It was soggy outside and we were getting a tad stir crazy.
Finally around 11am the skies erupted
and it POURED and POURED!!
I knew we had to leave for Taylee's basketball game that started at noon.
But how could I deny them the chance to get soaked?!
So I grabbed 4 umbrellas and released them to Mother Nature.

I ran around the house gathering the last of the sports bags
and begging (unsuccessfully) to get the kids to come inside
so we could rush our soggy selves to Basketball!
Luckily Ryan walked in the door unexpectedly!
He got off work early and was there to save me!
So we corralled 4 wet kids, 4 wet umbrellas and jumped in the car!
I couldn't even believe how much it was raining.
Straight sheets of water falling from the sky!

Taylee and I rushed into her game
while Ryan and the rest of the kids parked.

Taylee Basketball Game #5:

Taylee was beyond excitied to have a huge cheering section there for her!
No pressure at all!
She did great!
Again she was aggressive and got the rebounds and even took 4 shots!
ONE of which WENT IN!!!
Ok so it may have been a split second after they blew the whistle for subs.
But we all agreed to give her the basket
so TWO POINTS for Taylee!!!

As for the rest of the team....
ya we're kind of a misfit team of kids that could care less about basketball!! lol
Oh well, they're having fun!

She dove for a loose ball at one point and smacked her chin/teeth on it! Oops!

Grace & Crew were sucked in silently watching the entire game!
When Taylee subbed out I told them they could take her water to her
and sit by her for a bit.
They were ecstatic to do that!
I look over later and all three are shoved onto one chair! lol

The kids hustled and had a great time.
But I won't even tell you how lopsided the score was.
Let's just say it wasn't in our favor!

Taylee's team had team portraits right after the game.
Introducing:
Team Panther Tigers

Anden's game wasn't until 2pm.
We had an hour break.
That's usually when we run home and eat lunch.
However his team pictures were before his game.
So we waited there while Ryan ran and grabbed us lunch.

Anden Basketball Game #5:

Introducing:
Team Nuggets

After pictures we bolted back into the game.
One more to go and then we were free for the day!!

Then Taylee and her friends took over the camera!

Apparently they documented the footwear I chose for the day.
This time is really was based on practicality!

Anden's team fought hard but barely lost.
He was beaming however.
Because we brought the team treats and he got to pass them out.
Popularity at it's finest.
