And just like that Anden's
NINE!!
NINE!!
We started hanging up the decor for his party the night before.
I wanted to see the awe and shock in his eyes when he
came in to see what crazy thing we built on the 2 story wall!
Normally I have a doorway of streamers for them.
But I figured he had graduated to this instead!
And it did not disappoint.
His jaw dropped and he yelled,
"No way! That's the coolest thing ever!"
Ahh it's all worth it right there! lol
*Ok on a sidenote - the previous night Ryan had decided to trump my "honey I think you should really use shipping tape" suggestion with another cheaper version of tape instead. Needless to say the creeper crashed in the middle of the night. Like we thought someone broke into our house type of loud crash. Ryan comes back to bed after gunning down whomever is in the house and mumbles something about "Half the creeper fell...then his volume trailed off....guess I should have used the shipping tape after all." I was too tired to gloat and just asked if he could hang it back up before he left golfing the next morning. So at the crack of dawn Laiklyn woke up as usual. I stumbled through the house eyes half closed to get her and almost tripped over the massive creeper laying on the floor. WHAT?! After a not so pleased exchange of texts I realized he ran out of time to hang it before he left and he figured it would be a quick job by myself. Obviously he must have forgotten several key points...a) I'm not 12 feet tall, b) I don't have 4 arms, c) I have a small crazy child that will no doubt jump all over it while it's conveniently laying on the floor for her, d) My 2 arms don't have a wingspan of 20 feet and e) I HAVE to have this hung back up before Anden sees it!! It's his birthday!!
So I attempted for 45 mins by myself while Laiklyn was locked in her highchair not so pleased at me. Complete failure. And I'm stubborn and rarely admit defeat. But there was NO WAY this thing was getting hung back up without another person's help. This was worse than the first time hanging it as the top 2.5 rows were still attached to the wall so I had to not only hang it up but also reattach each plate together. So I was desperate and determined. Sometimes that's a good combo other times it's not! lol. I heard the neighbor dragging his garbage can inside. So I grabbed Laiklyn and in our pajama glory we ran outside at 7am to beg the neighbor to help me. But he was nowhere to be found. There were only 2 bicyclists that had just passed the house. RATS! So I let Laiklyn cruise around the driveway as I though of Plan C. Right then the Bugman Truck pulled up to the other neighbor's house. I figure I'm already standing in my driveway at 7am in my pajamas looking like I'm lost, I might as well just ask them for help. Two men hop out of the van. One was older and the other younger. I opted for the younger one. Maybe I could sway him with my straight out of bed, haven't brushed my teeth or combed my hair, no make up on, pajama wearing, no shoes style...all while holding a baby in pj's and barefoot too. The convo went something like this...
"Hey sir, Sorry to bother you but I have a really random request. I hung a Creeper on my wall that fell down during the night that I need help hanging back up. I mean it's not that kind of Creeper. And I promise I'm not a Creeper and I REALLY hope you're not a Creeper too since I'm inviting you into my house. But I just need you to come tape my other Creeper to the wall...please?!" I flashed my best plaque smile and hoped he didn't call the cops on me.
His face was SO confused and he replies,
"Um OK"
So he follows me into my house - yes complete stranger I just invited in - yes I was that desperate.
As soon as I open the door and he sees what's laying on the floor he smiles and says
Oh you mean Minecraft? Wow that's the coolest thing ever. Why didn't you just say so.
Um hello I thought I did?! lol
Anyway the stranger helped me hang it back up.
Guess I chose wisely picking the younger of the 2 bug men as he said
he used to play minecraft all the time.
Phew long live the video game dorks!
And it saved the day as Anden got home 20 mins later and LOVED the Creeper surprise!
Luckily there wasn't another Creeper still hiding in our house
as he left soon after he rescued the morning breath damsel (and her baby) in creeper distress. :)
*Ok back to the regularly schedule program....*
We didn't have long before school started
so Anden picked one gift to open before we left.
He quickly realized he picked the right gift!
Grandma Furniss nailed it with this one!
He was literally overflowing with joy lol
We would be back shortly to pick Anden up for lunch!
After Laiklyn's morning nap we ran back over to school.
Anden was literally bouncing when he came to the office.
He picked Wendy's for lunch
so that's just where we headed next.
On our way back to school we stopped by the house real quick
and grabbed the class treats.
He had asked for ice cream sandwiches
so we couldn't quite bring those to school early without melting!
I tied Laiklyn down in a stroller
and we headed on into his classroom.
Laiklyn must have looked like a baby zoo animal
because she got swarmed and mauled by the kids! lol
Um oops so much for the attention going to the birthday boy!
But Anden was beaming that she was HIS baby sister.
The class sang to him
and then he passed out his treats.
I finally let out the baby giraffe for all to admire.
I was afraid she would ransack that classroom in 5.7 seconds
(like she does at home!!!)
but instead she cautiously inspected things and dodged
20 kids trying to pick her up or feed her their ice cream sandwich!
Anden didn't want us to leave.
He wouldn't let go of Laiklyn.
Literally.
I had to pry his fingers off her so I could bust out of there!
Laiklyn and I were back at the gate when school got out.
Half of the neighborhood always walk home with us.
I'm sure it's because I'm so cool
and nothing to do with my 3 kids being cool! lol
Kaitlyn and Owen came in with us for a bit to check out the
Massive Creeper Wall!
Then we said our goodbyes
so Anden could open gifts before our next adventure
with them in 30 mins.
Present Time!
(don't mind that we're still sweaty and overheating from walking home!!)
Anden loved all of his presents!
He's such a lucky spoiled kid by all his many relatives!!
One of the gifts we gave him was go karting for him and a friend.
So we loaded up and picked up Owen & Kaitlyn
and off we headed to the track!
Ryan and the boys did the first race
while us girls cheered them on.
Watching the very serious safety video.
Getting all situated and locked in!
And they're off!!
I always underestimate how much work it is to do anything
when I have my Tasmanian Toddler with me.
That girls doesn't stop moving and getting into everything!!
And we made the dreaded mistake of forgetting her stroller.
So not a lot of pictures
and instead a lot of frustration
as we chased her everywhere and wrestled her to keep her safe.
But all in all we had a great time!
Then I got to be a kid for once
and do the second race with boys
while Ryan took the girls over to the RC car track.
It was Taylee and Kaitlyn's turn to race those instead.
Anden and Owen completely surprised me and were
completely perfect awesome drivers in the 2nd race.
I fully anticipated that I would be going slow and making sure
they got unstuck, etc like Ryan had to.
But oh no they flew past me and I played catch up the rest of the race!!
Guess it only took one race to figure out how to be pro drivers!
When we finished we headed over to the RC car track to see the girls.
The boys immediately decided it looked awesome
and they wanted to race here too.
So I'm sucker and bought them passes as well.
Hey not everyday is your birthday!
Finally we loaded up and picked up pizza on our way home.
We like to fit in as much as we can in one day!
Happy Birthday Anden!!!
But the fun is far from over....
Saturday is his
Minecraft Birthday Party!
Stay tuned for some awesome fun!
Let's just say our house looks like we're in the middle
of a real live video game!
