Taylee's Soccer Season - Update

Date: Mar 5th

Taylee's soccer season is still in full swing.
She had 2 different tournaments these past 2 weekends.
They did awesome!!!

Feb 25-26th
They had three games in the first tournament
and went undefeated taking 1st place!!
Taylee played so well!!
She seriously plays every position.
She played the first half of each game as goalie
then forward and defender in the second half of the games.
She scored 2 goals during this tourney.

Celebration Ice Cream!

Taylee was awarded Defensive Player of the tourney from her coach!
She was ecstatic about that and won a new pair of shin guards!

Taylee serious works her butt off and gives 100% in every game.
We're so proud of this feisty little soccer player!

Mar 4-5th
The second tournament was this past weekend.
Again they did awesome!
They lost their first game and then came back and won the next 2 games.
This put them in the championship game!
They played against the first team that beat them.
Which we did find out had many girls a year older on that team and
shouldn't have been allowed to play in our division anyway!!!
Considering how strict they are with the age brackets,
I have no idea how that team got accepted into this tournament! :(
Needless to say we fought hard against the giants
(seriously they were a whole head taller than us!)
but ended up losing.
The girls were so bummed but hey at least we didn't cheat and still got 2nd place!

Taylee scored 3 goals this tourney...
and that's with playing goalie for half of each game!

So we were in Vegas and missed 3 of the games in this tourney.
We made it back in time for the Championship game though.
Although I missed it, I have to share this story that happened in the game earlier that day.
(that was immediately told to me by Taylee after that game and by all the parents when I arrived!)
This tournament was played way out west in Avondale.
The fields were awful!
Like dead grass, dirt mounds, bumpy, holey awful!!
We've learned that we're extremely pampered in Anthem to have pristine fields
and so far no other park in the valley has even compared.
So we have learned to expect crappy grass but this place was the worst of the worst.

Well in the middle of the first half Taylee was playing goalie.
During a sideline throw in she noticed a mole/rat/groundhog jump out of a hole on the field
and start running towards her teammate Sophie.
So she hollers to Sophie to watch out.
Sophie jumps out of the way and it darts towards their other teammate Morgan.
It literally starts trying to attack and bite Morgan's feet.
Morgan's still trying to play the game and get away from the rodent at the same time!
So she kicks the gross little thing and it flys backwards onto it's back
and literally kills it!!
So the ref calls time and nonchalantly goes over and picks up the rodent by the long tail
and casually walks off the sideline and tosses it into the brush.
Then without a blink of an eye walks back onto the field and resumes play!!
OMG!! lol
Our team is horrified and didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
But no time for that because the game was back on!
We soon found out that this is normal every day procedure on these fields!!
hahaha are we in the wild west or something?!

And then Sophie's dad sent me this picture! LOL

Needless to say our team had quite the laugh about this story!!
It's about the only thing that eased the sting of losing to a cheating team.

Well we have one more month left in Taylee's soccer season!
Then a few months off before we start all over again.
