Well if it weren't for my Idaho family
I probably wouldn't have even know about
The Great American Solar Eclipse
more than a week before it!
But since they were located directly in the path of totality,
I scrambled for 2 wks prior to the Eclipse to find solar glasses.
But nope they were no where to be found here.
Everything online was either sold out or outrageous prices.
Well you know me, I refuse to give up when my mind is set on something!
So I was still searching for glasses the morning of the Eclipse.
And by golly I found some extras for sale at a local school.
Yes I did immediately shove Ryan out the door to go buy them for us! lol
Well the kids and I were all ready to walk to school when I scored the glasses.
We were literally on the driveway ready to go.
So we took a quick pic in the bright morning sun!
Once Ryan confirmed that he had the precious glasses and was on his way back home,
I told the kids we were doing home schooling today!!
They were thrilled!
Right then our friends the Mortensens drove by on their way to school.
They stopped to say hi & decided to join our impromptu "science class" instead too!!
The kids' school was only broadcasting the live NASA feed
as they were unable to get enough glasses for the entire school.
The students had to stay inside ALL morning as to not avoid an accidental scorching of the eyeballs.
They weren't thrilled about this at all.
So instead we also had the live NASA stream turned on
and then got to see the real deal from the backyard too!
We had about 75% coverage from down here in AZ.
But it was still super cool to see!
Then we loaded up the kiddos and took them back over to school once it ended.
They weren't thrilled about that!
Sorry kids Science is over, on to your next period! lol
Such an awesome experience for all of us!
Maybe in 7 years we'll actually travel to see the complete eclipse!
My family all raved that it was one of the most amazing things they've ever seen!!
