Mexico Birthday Trip - Part 3

Date: Mar 17th

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Which also means that it's my big green birthday as well!

I usually overshadow the fact that I'm getting older and wiser
by celebrating St. Patty's and making it fun for the kids instead.
However this year there aren't any kids to take the limelight off of me! Rats lol
(don't worry Lucky the Leprechaun did leave them baskets of treats back at home!)
So we decided to just have another fabulous beach day doing whatever the heck we wanted!

Breakfast on our patio overlooking the ocean

After breakfast we went down to the pools and beach for a bit.
 Ahhh nice and relaxing!
This is gonna be a great birthday!!

It was still chilly so we decided to go zip lining!
I saw this zip line place had just opened up last March when we were here.
Of course the thrill seeker in me definitely wanted to try it out!
Ryan acted all into it....
until we were at the top of the mountain
with ocean drop on one side and sand cliff on the other.
Then he tells me he's scared of heights!!
lol WHAT how did I never know this?!
Good thing his pride wouldn't let him be the wimp of the group!
So he sucked it up and completed the course...and had a great time!!

Gearing up!
I had to write on my waiver what my birthday was....uhh today!
The guides were super cool to make it special for me.
Maybe that's also why he asked if I was turning 25 or 26! ;)
He did look sincerely shocked when I had to admit...uh nope 40!!! lol
Then again I was shocked to actually say that for the first time.

After we were all geared up, we loaded into the coolest tank of a truck!

From there the truck hauled us up on the sandy hill
to the top of the mountain!
Seriously this truck was a beast! Most of the RZRs couldn't haul up the loose sand
the way this truck just barged on through! lol

That's our resort way back in the distance!

The beast mobile got us as close to the top as possible.
Then we had to use a rope and climb up the rest to the itty bitty top!
Who knew it was pretty ocean cliffs on the other side?!

Ryan volunteered me to go first.
I threatened him that he better follow me and not wimp out once I left that mountain peak! haha

And I'm off!
I love doing stuff like this! :)

Next up was Ryan!
And he even let out a little squeal! hahahaha
But hey at least he made it through the first line!

The next one was way longer.
I had him go first this time and then I followed.
Ya and don't mind that there was a coyote just chilling right below me in the rocks!

View from this peak overlooking the bay where most locals (ok AZ transplants) live

There were like 6-7 lines.
One of them was the longest zip line in all of Mexico!!

I finally remembered to go first and then take a few pics of Ryan on the last line.
Too bad it was just the line from the mountain back to the main tiki hut.
So not the coolest scenery or steep at the end.
But hey it shows he completed the course! :)

Yes the guide at the top jokingly told us he would give us $100 if we
came in straight legged and took out the bottom guide!
Ryan took him seriously! lol

Then it was back to the resort to change and hit the beach!

First up...mangoes!

Then we got couples massages on the beach!
Ahh my fave!
Mine finished a bit earlier than Ryan's so I snapped a pic of him!

Then it was back to chillin on the beach!

I promised Lyndsay that I would take a pic wearing the "40" tiara
and send it to her.
Yes the same tiara that I gave to her for her bday last year!
It happened to find it's way back to me!
Oddly enough it was when we had to go back home to get our passports
that the mail lady was walking it up to my doorstep.
So not knowing what the package was,
I threw it in the car with us and opened it as we were driving.
haha it's like a bad penny found it's way back!
Lyndsay said see you were meant to forget your passports so you could get your tiara too! lol

So here's the queen of 40...for the day! lol

We finally ventured back up to our room to get ready for dinner.
We had reservations on a dinner cruise and didn't have long to get there.
So yes that means I barely could rinse off but not wash my windblown greasy massage oil sandy hair!
Ugh!! Just what you want to look like for your birthday dinner! lol

We hurried and left the resort to drive into town.
Yet nothing moves fast in Mexico.
The streets were so packed with quads and UTVs.
It took forever to get to the port.
We parked with 10 mins to board and raced down the ramp to the boat.
It was packed with people.
Right we got to the end of the dock, the worker literally pulled in the ramp and the boat pulled away.
Uhhhh lol
We stood there like idiots wondering what to do.
Ryan's trying to flag the guy.
Everyone's staring at us 2 low lives left behind on the dock.
I just wanted to duck and run for cover! lol
New meaning to the phrase, "just missed the boat!" haha
So we walked with our tail between our legs back up the dock ramp and got our money back.
Then it was off to find a new venue for dinner.
Which I was actually happy about since we didn't know how packed that dinner cruise would be.

We headed to the top of a cliff where I knew of a couple of good restaurants.
We hadn't been to either so we picked one and headed on in.
And ended up with the best dining ocean views....
of our dinner cruise out in the harbor in the distance! lol

The band serenaded me with a broken English
"Happy Birthday Amiga!"
lol it was so funny but cute!

Then it was a race back to the resort to catch the last bit of sunset on the beach.

This is the "HURRY I'M FREEZING" candid photo! lol

What a fabulous birthday!!
Just what I wanted :)
