Location: Island Park, ID
It's the day that we've been totally looking forward to!
We're off to the cabin!!!
We haven't been up there in 3 years!
While Mom was sick we chose to just stay local every time we came to Idaho
so that we could have more time with her.
The kids were so understanding about the situation despite their love for the cabin too.
So when the big kids asked me in October if we could maybe go to the cabin this year.
I whole heartedly told them heck yes!!
(because I have surely missed this place too!)
Starting up the mountain!
Getting close now!
I literally get giddy at this point every time!
The first stop once we get into town....
the local gas station for the annual
Chocolate Covered Cinnamon Bears!! :)
Now the cabin trip can officially begin!!
This beast was getting gas next to us!
Yep just normal Island Park vehicles lol
We immediately texted this picture to our friends back at home that have a similar Ranger
telling them that skis would have to be the next accessory they purchased for theirs!
The immediately texted back (from their cabin in Colorado) pics of theirs looking
the exact same as this!!!
lol they had bought a ski kit right before they left for their cabin!
Too funny we called that one! ;)
The second we got to the cain
the kids put on their snow gear and were outside playing!
After I finished unloading the food,
I joined them!
The bigs decided to attempt cross country skiing
While Laiky was content to eat monster size icicles!
Taylee realized cross country skiing was way more work than fun!
She's laying there like Ralphie stuck at the bottom of the hill! lol
Laiky was in smorgasbord heaven eating snow.
We talked about yellow snow.
I guess I should have warned her about pine needle snow.
Next up: Anden to conquer the cross country skis
He of course decided immediately to just shoot himself down the
deck stairs out onto the lake.
Again, not as easy as it looks! lol
But I love that these kids are fearless to try anything!!
This place is just too gorgeous!
We also lucked out that the cold front moved out yesterday.
It was below zero here in the peak of the day!
Phew back to "normal" temps so we can play outside!!
Then we moved on to more extreme sports!
Then Taylee had a brilliant idea to jump off the 2nd story deck.
Which meant Ryan had to hop on board that idea and sacrifice Laiklyn!
Anden found a snowboard in the garage and decided to give it a whirl.
He was a natural shooting down the deck stairs!
We decided to see if he could ride the powder from the front of the cabin
down to the lake.
Taylee decided to give the snowboard a try!
And of course she had to try the exact same thing Anden did.
This girl is so competitive!
Moving on to sledding behind the RZR
Back inside to warm up!
Eastlie took this picture! lol
Once he sun set,
we moved to inside activities.
We made a yummy dinner
then back outside to go hot tubbing!!
However we can never just sit in the warmth of the hot tub
and admire the cold beauty around us.
These kids have to be dare devils IN the snow too! lol
Never to be outdone....Taylee took it a step further! lol
We finally capped off this awesome day with hot cocoa and playing Uno!
