Idaho Trip - 8/22/09

After a late night of cramming good ole Idaho Arctic Circle hamburgers and fries into our bellies and telling stories, we awoke to a beautiful country day! Well at least I thought so. Jer just had to take my word on it because he still couldn't see. Dad made us a big country breakfast buffet. (one of the best parts about coming home!) Anden was outside running around and enjoying his roaming freedom before I could even blink. His cousins Isaac, Max, and Jake were there too. He absolutely LOVED having 3 little boys to play with! The big boys spent the morning setting up the yard for the Open House. The big and little girls got ready for Lyndsay's Bridal Shower in Idaho Falls.

Luckily Dad's friendship with every single person, dog, and bug in the community came into our favor. He was able to get the only Ophthalmologist in town to kindly make an emergency office visit so that he could inspect Jeremy's eye. So off Dad and Jeremy went to town to be healed. While they were gone, the girls left for the bridal shower. While we were driving, Jeremy called to give me the verdict. Good news, he didn't have any shrapnel stuck in his eye like he thought. Bad news, he had a severe eye infection with growths (ick) on his eyeball. This is what caused the awful pain every time he blinked. He proceeded to tell me how the Dr. gave him some antibiotic eye drops but it could take a week to heal. I finally inquired, "How the heck did you get this?" Sheepishly he replied, "um well guess I don't um really clean my contacts enough and don't um replace them when I should and um leave them in too long". Since this has been a reoccurring conversation for years.... my only reply was, "hhmmph really?!" My sympathy for his eye woes suddenly diminished to nothing.

Lyndsay's shower was at Luke/Melanie's house. My Aunt Jo and Aunt Sandy were throwing the party. It was a great time and both sides of the family (Hunsaker and Furniss) attended! Here's some of the visual highlights. Unfortunately I spent most of my time chasing Taylee and keeping her from falling down the stairs. So I didn't get pictures of the cute decorations/displays and awesome food spread. Hopefully someone else did and I can steal their pics! :-)

We finally rushed home from the shower to hurry and change and get ready for the Open House. The boys had done an awesome job setting up everything while we were gone. Oh and since they were so efficient they were rewarded with a trip to the lake courtesy of Uncle Kirk! Well all except Jeremy and Anden. He was threatened when I left that the night's success depended on whether Anden took a nap or not. Luckily he heeded my warning and stayed home to put Anden to sleep. Sorry honey! :-)

Next up, The Open House! It was a huge success. There were probably 300 people that came. It was a ton of fun to see the old neighborhood! The best part was that it was outside so my kids could run freely and happily and thus I could enjoy myself as well! Since I was chatting and half watching my kids all night, I unfortunately didn't get any pictures! Luckily my awesome cousin Lacie accepted the dreaded task of being the photographer for the night. I'll snag those pics from her and post them up here soon too!
