Idaho Christmas Trip - 12/20

December 20th: Island Park

We woke up to several inches of new powder,
clear and sunny skies
and COLD temps!

So I busted out the trusty craft bag
to keep everyone entertained
until it was tolerable to go outside!

Finally it hit 20 degrees so we moved outdoors!

I earned my keep my shoveling off the back deck.

Afterwards, Dad kindly informed me there were motorized ways of clearing snow.

Then we took the kids on a snowmobile ride!
There was tons of fresh untouched powder that needed "testing"!

We ventured back to the cabin for naptime.

Dad kindly offered to watch the sleeping children
(aka take his own nap)
so we could head back out for a ride!

We even figured out a "glove" for Lyndsay's cast!

Lynds & Aaron took us back to where the got stuck earlier that day
for an HOUR
on top of a huge tree hidden under snow!

Jer stepped off his sled and fell thigh deep into powder!

Then Jer blazed a new trail through the forest

and led us to a hilly meadow
perfect for showing off some skills!

And even this ole mama still has some left in her!

After we returned home, Aaron caught a mouse
by chasing it down the road
and digging it out of a snow drift.
Of course it warranted bringing it inside to show off.

At least the kids were impressed.

The we bundled up and drove into West Yellowstone.

And immediately remembered the town is almost completely
SHUT DOWN
during the winter.

But of course the kids spotted the "M"
from a mile away.
The poor little things
hadn't had fake compressed chicken parts
in over a week!
So we had to stop and let them devour their favorite meal.

When we got up to the register to order,
I noticed this discreet sign.

Seriously?!?!
It might be easier to just list what IS available!

To our delight, Happy Meals were still on the elusive menu!
At a bargain price of $5.89 each!
(ya they're $2.99 in Phoenix!)

Then we headed back to the cabin for games and sleep!

Get your rest, there's plenty more of this tomorrow!
