Ryan's Endowment

Date: Sept 25th

On Thursday night Papa Nolie and the Gravens arrived in Anthem!

They came into town for multiple reasons...
Ryan decided to go through the Temple awhile ago.
It's just been a juggle to figure out when it would work
that our out of town family could possibly attend with us.
Lyndsay had mentioned wanting to come out for Taylee's Party
so we figured let's do it all that weekend!
Ryan then asked Dad to be his escort
and he gladly joined the party as well!

We love having family come visit us!!
So we were super excited for this weekend
again for multiple reasons!!

I had lined up 3 sitters to watch the 5 kiddos.
1 for Laiklyn
1 for Aislynn
and 1 for Anden, Taylee, Kyrrigan!

We gave the kiddos loves and prayed they would be ok!
Then off we went for our spiritual adults night!

As we were backing out of the driveway I asked Ryan if he remembered all his stuff.
He replies, "Yep!"
Then I asked, "...including your Temple Recommend?"
He immediately shoves the car into drive
and hauls back up the driveway.
Guess that's a no! lol
So he jumps out and runs back inside.
Dad and I waited and waited and waited.
Finally I knew something was wrong so I hopped out of the car to check on him.

I walk into our bedroom closet
and Ryan and Aaron are frantically trying to open the safe.
Ryan has the keypad pulled off and is literally licking the battery
while mixing wires and trying to also hot wire the safe.
Unless he was trying to blow his tongue off on purpose,
that was my BOLD clue that something was seriously wrong! lol
We were already running late so the stress was mounting.
He mumbles something about the keypad isn't working
and that he called the safe company and they'll have it reset in 15 minutes.

So the 3 of us just stood there staring at each other listening to the
invisible clock loudly TICK TICK TICK'ing the seconds away.
Any other time I would have busted up laughing.
You see Ryan is Mr. Safety Prepper Prepared.
He continually reminds me to put things in the safe, etc.
Well after he got his Temple Recommend
I took the initiative, for the first time ever, to put the document in the safe for him.
He was so proud of me for 1 - remembering to use the safe and 2 - remembering the code.
(Yes I know I've set my bar low! lol)
So as much as I wanted to just giggle about the irony of this situation
and ask him if my ole throw the papers in a box method was that bad after all...
I figured I would keep it to myself until later! ;)

Finally Ryan zoomed out of the closet to frantically try a different method.
Now it was just Aaron and I standing there dumbfounded.
Finally Aaron's like well let's just try it again.
And TADA.....it magically opened!!
PHEW!!!
So we grab the paper and rushed back to the car
where Papa Nolie was still just sitting in the backseat waiting for his wayward children! lol

I called the Temple as we drove lightning speed to inform them we're coming but late.
They assured us we were fine.
So we tried to relax the last 15 minutes of the drive and focus on what was to come!

We just had to chuckle because how many times have you heard
about the Adversary trying to thwart your plans of eternal progression?!
Well you can call this coincidence
or exactly what occurred right here!
But nonetheless we overcame!! :)

We had so many friends from church come support Ryan!
It was so special to have them there
and feel their love for us.
It was just an all around great night!

I had forgotten my camera during the melee to get out of the door.
So we snapped a few cell phone pics afterwards.
It was late and our friends had all left.
But at least we got a few pics anyway!

Congratulations Ryan!
I'm so happy to be one step closer to spending eternity with you!!
