Soccer Tournament

Date: Sept 5-6th

Taylee was invited to play in the

Desert Elite Inaugural Cup
with the Anthem Club Soccer team.

She jumped at the chance!!

You see after rec soccer ended in May she was invited

to try out for the Anthem Club team.

She did and she made the team.

But it's a big time commitment (and pricey!) and with all the other things she wants to do

she wasn't sure if she wanted to just stick with soccer.

So we didn't join the team.

Luckily the Coach has stayed in touch with me

and asked if it was ok to register her as a guest invitee for the tournaments.

I'm sure this was his way of "wining and dining" Taylee to join their team! ;)

I told Taylee no pressure but you since you're the "guest"

you have to really prove you're worth them taking a chance on you! lol

Well she lived up to their expectations!

She did awesome!!

I was so proud of her!

She practiced with the team twice in the week leading up to the tournament.

They've been practicing since June.

So she definitely didn't have the technique or rules down like the other girls.

The first game was a tad hectic at first as she didn't know 

what position to be in when or the plays.

But with a few hollers from the coaches on the sidelines she picked right up!

And like they said

you can't teach someone to have heart.

And she's got plenty of that!

Warming up prior to the first game:

The first team we played must have came straight from the FIFA World Cup.

These girls were insanely good

like came out of the womb dribbling a ball good!

In the first minute of the game they scored on us twice.

We were worried it would be a LONG game at that rate.

But after the shell shocked wore off we did a good job catching up.

Of course I had to keep an eye on both my girls!!

Half time break

and to catch their breath!!!

We were down 4-0

In the second half both teams scored twice.

And guess who got one of the goals for our team?!

TAYLEE!!!

She was ecstatic!!!

(And so was the Coach for recruiting this random girl to join their team lol)

We ended up losing 6-2

but still considered it a success

as that team went on to smoke everyone and take 1st place in the tourney!

6 hours later we met back at the fields for Game 2!

This team was much more evenly matched!

So we won this game!!

Taylee didn't have a goal but definitely contributed a ton!

The next morning was the final game of the tourney.

We fought hard and won this game too!

And guess who scored a goal again?!

Miss Taylee!

The girls ended up taking 2nd place in the tourney!!

GREAT JOB TAYLEE!!

She gives it her all with everything she does!

And now guess who's decided she wants to officially join the team?!

TAYLEE!

Phew now maybe the Coach will stop begging me too! ;)
