Sedona Getaway

Date: July 30-31st

At the last moment we decided to ditch our
"we're finally staying at home to chill and prep for school" weekend
and headed to Sedona instead with Ryan's family.

We headed up early on Saturday and went right to Grasshopper Point
to do some cliff jumping and swimming in the creek.

We stayed there all afternoon.
The kids had a blast!

Anden of course was the first kid to climb up the cliffs and jump in!
Everyone else followed suit.

Getting used to the COLD water!

Laiklyn stuck with the women and watched the crazy kids (and Ryan) instead

Finally the Loihle kids decided to give it a try too!
Brett and Jayden went first

Then Anden and Jayden

And if the boys are going to do it then you know Taylee will be right behind them!

Trying out the higher cliffs

Uncle Merit had just shaved his head so Laiklyn was very enthralled by it! lol

Finally Heidi got the courage to go too!
As long as Taylee jumped with her!
It's a girl thing - the buddy system! lol :)

When the monsoon storms started to roll in
we headed back to the hotel.
This was our carload the whole weekend.
All the boys and me and Laiky!

We changed and then ventured off to dinner.
We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the cooler temps and monsoon breezes!
Then it was back to the hotel to wander around and catch Pokemon characters all night.

The next day we demolished the breakfast buffet at the hotel
then headed to Slide Rock.

I forget how BUSY this place is in the summer!!
But if I look past the tons of people I can still admire the natural beauty of it!

I spy Taylee coming down the slide

The cute girlies

Anden coming down the big slide

Jayden's turn next

The girls attempting to not slip and fall down!

Taylor's turn

And finally it was Laiklyn's turn!

She loved it!
Ryan not so much.
He decided he's too big to slide those rocks as he was hitting his butt on them! lol

Snack time

Then Ryan talked everyone to heading downstream to the huge cliffs!
So while the adults made their way along the rocky shore
the kids went directly through the creek!

We finally made it to the HUGE cliffs under the road bridge.
The kids and Ryan climbed right up there.

Ryan and Brett tested it out first

Which meant my crazy kids had to go next

Laiky hung out with us adults and cheered them on.
She so badly wanted to go up the cliffs too!
Uh heck no kiddo! lol

Taylee posing after one of her jumps!

Then back up for more!
Taylor tried it not too!

Then Jayden and Heidi decided to give it a whirl too!

On the other side of the creek was a MASSIVE cliff.
Anden was watching those people jump and kept begging me if he could do.
No way buddy!
I would like to leave this place with all our limbs intact!

Well you know Anden, he doesn't give up.
So I finally said fine if Ryan says it's ok.
Well duh that wasn't the smartest move.
Because Ryan was like - let's go buddy!
And off the hiked up the cliff
to be the tiny specs up there!

Well Ryan told me later he really didn't think Anden would do it.
He told him ok let's jump together.
1,2...3
And off Anden lept without thinking twice.
A split second later Ryan did the oh crap now I have to jump too thing!

(video coming)

HOLY CRAP!
Anden is nuts!!!
But they survived and have a new story to tell!

On that note we decided it was time to head out while we were ahead.

So we hiked back out of there and loaded up the cars.
The kids were all bummed to leave.
But I had a parent soccer meeting to attend that night back in Anthem.
So we did our best and fit it all in and had a blast!

I love unexpected last minute trips! :)
