This is the room that I've been obsessing over.
Like literally day and night dreaming.
I think I have a problem.
I get a design idea in my head and I'm consumed until it's finished.
I knew exactly what I wanted
but of course I didn't want to pay full price for anything
(curse my dang love for high end decor)
Exhibit A:
This is the bed that sucked me in the second I saw it.
Pottery Barn Teen, $1150 for just the frame
Exhibit B:
To die for Bed Bench
One Kings Lane, $1499
Exhibit C:
Desk Chair
Online Retailers, $150-250
So I set out to accomplish the look for way less.
Craigslist and thrift stores here I come....with my gold spray paint in hand! lol
I scoured online until I found ugly gems with solid structures
that I could transform into beauties.
Each time I sent Ryan to pick up something
he would text after, "Ok I just got it and this thing is hideous!!"
Trust me babe, trust me. lol
So this dark brown rod iron canopy queen bed I scored for $40 was transformed...
(Apologies in advance for the crappy night time cell phone pics!
That's the only time I have to work on projects around here!!)
Ryan did feel bad for me hunched over inhaling spray paint for hours
(yes I know great for a growing fetus)
and eventually came out and finished the last coat for me!
(with his phone flash light! we're legit around here!)
And this awful vintage bench for $30 was transformed...
First a fresh coat of gold spray paint
and to cover up those "grandma" (as Taylee called it) white/pink finials.
Then a yard of white fur to reupholster the bench
Then a yard of white fur to reupholster the bench
And suddenly you have this stunner!!
For a grand whopping total of $40!
And this cute white desk chair had more potential...
And while I was at it I changed the color of her new white desk drawer knobs to gold!
I had bought a pair of vintage nightstands that had already been painted turquoise and distressed.
So that one saved me some work!!
But that meant I needed to redo her dresser and mirror yet again!
Coral it is this time
with a gold mirror!
And then I put it all together with new bedding and fun accessories.
Then it sat complete for over a month
while family, travels, and summer overtook our lives
before I got around to taking pics of the final project!
So without further ado,
here is the reveal of the former Guest Room turned Taylee's new Bedroom!!
Before:
(sorry I don't have a true before pic! But this is at least before we torn the previous bed down!)
During:
Bed and bedding assembled and passed the sister snuggle test
The kids even wanted to help paint the room from gray to aqua
Giving new life to some accessories we already had
This chandelier I found at Ross and was black.
I had the perfect idea for it all it needed was a color change!
Making a new big T initial
And then my trusty foreman to install it all!
(with the mini assistant hopping on the bed! lol)
After:
I just love how it all turned out!!
And more importantly Taylee loves it too! :)

And my favorite accessory that I literally did a happy dance when I found it at a store!
(I did get Taylee's approval first that it wouldn't freak her out at night before I hung it! lol)
Now Taylee has her big girl room!
Sniff Sniff she's growing up so fast!
She's SUCH a good little sister and awesome big sister!!
She definitely deserved a new room!
