Laiklyn's 1st Soccer Game

Date: Oct 14th

Laiklyn had her first soccer game.
Let's just say it went as I planned.
She was more concerned about anything OTHER than soccer.
Yes that's the part I actually planned on happening!

Grammie came up to watch our crazy busy sports day that day.
So she got to see Laiklyn's finest athletic abilities!
Too bad it had nothing to do with soccer! lol

The morning started by Laiklyn finding a random pink kitty toy
and deciding it was the most important thing she's ever seen.
So yes it came to the game with us, she held it during warm ups
and the entire time she was on the sideline.
She had ZERO interest in playing in the game.

Well finally we made her go in and play.
She was not please about that.
So she just stood there and pouted while the game buzzed around her.

Coach Daddy picking her and placing her in the right spot

Her finest pouts about having to stand out there

Feet firmly planted, scowling at the other players

After a few minutes she bolted off the field and decided to take her cleats off.
I'm sure she knew that would buy her 10 mins while I had to put them back on her.

Eventually she went back into the game.
I hurried to take pics as I knew this would last a whole 5 minutes again.

There she is running the wrong direction, nowhere near the ball.

Progress, she's actually in the middle of the players pretending to care

Nope, nevermind.
Back off the field to get her toy that somehow she saw Eastlie touched while she was gone.

Chillin with Grammie while the game goes on without her

This poor little peanut just scavenges for her own snacks and entertainment.
Let's just say 4th child problems are a real deal.

Still just chilling on the sideline.

And now she's back in.
I would love to say she turned a corner and is actually playing and liking it.
But let's be honest.
She's literally YELLING at the other players to give her the ball back!
Coach Daddy made the mistake to let her do the kick off after the other team scored.
Well the second the other team took the ball from her she fell apart.
"THAT'S MY BALL!!"
"HE'S NOT SHARING!!'
"IT'S MY TURN NOW!!"
As she's chasing after the kid...not the ball...to get the ball back!
I was grimacing on the sideline knowing she would probably tackle that kid to get the ball!

Here comes the whining...

Yep there it is! lol
"IT'S MY TURN NOW!!"

Still crying and chasing to get the dang kids that stole HER ball.

And then Coach carrying her back to our side before she manhandled the other team

Finally Ryan had had enough.
"SUB SUB!!! ANYONE?!! COME SWITCH LAIKLYN!"

Well about this point Laiklyn decided in the middle of the game to just turn
and take off sprinting the other direction.
I watched in a panic for a few seconds knowing full well something had caught her attention
and she wasn't going to stop until she got it.
She ran to the end of our field and didn't even flinch to stop.
I jumped up in horror knowing I had to chase this dang kid down before she got to the parking lot!
So I tried to be a cool collected mom doing the brisk walk and kindly yelling her name.
She didn't even glance back at me and was full speed ahead.
So then I turned into the crazy haggard mom full blown sprinting after my toddler
while screaming her name and threatening her if she didn't stop running.
Yes....for all the other parents and children to see.
She ran through the entire soccer field next to ours
(which had a game going on!)
with the crazy mom gasping for air hobbling behind her.
Finally she stopped and turned my direction and yells at me,
"I'M GOING TO GET THAT HELICOPTER!!"
and then just kept on running.
I was shooting darts at her through my eyes but none were landing!
I finally caught up close to her
and had that momentary thought that I should just dive and tackle her to the ground.
But then I realized that we already were a huge spectacle that everyone was watching
so I probably shouldn't add more humor/horror to the situation.
So I lunged at her and luckily snagged her arm.
I tried to do the discreet scolding with the mean mom eyes
but she could have cared less.
"Mommy I just want to go see that helicopter!"
(yes to our luck that day they were doing a safety vehicle expo in the nearby softball fields. Fire engines, ambulances, police cars, the works were all parked there.  But then to really distract our pint size soccer players, a helicopter decided to fly low right over our fields and land in the softball fields next door.  I know every kid wanted to go see that instead of play soccer however they were able to resist the urge. But no, not Laiklyn!)

So I put on my fake smile and with my tight grip
walked her the 2 miles (it felt like that!!) back to our field
with my tail between my legs.
The other moms on our team are my good friends.
They were all rolling laughing.
Ya real funny til it's your own kid!!! lol
But they all know Laiklyn.
So this is just status quo.

Needless to say....um this is going to be an interesting soccer season!
Wish me luck! haha
