Ryan came home from work early
as soon as he found out the freak snowstorm cancelled Taylee's
soccer tournament game that night!
We loaded up as soon as the big kids got home from school.
And off we headed out to Table Mesa!
The snow had all melted
but boy oh boy was it still WET and MUDDY!!!
I didn't know what to expect
so I hauled down all the snow clothes that I had obviously put away for the year.
And we all got dressed for whatever weather we may encounter!
And good thing we did because we needed every piece of that clothing!
It was still raining!
It took like what seemed forever to get us all loaded into RZR.
It was one fit after another from the little girls.
We tried to have good attitudes and trudge on.
Well except maybe Eastlie! lol poor kid
I forewarned Ryan that the little girls would HATE this!
He just put bigger tires on the RZR.
Yes it looks cool...
but I'm no fool to know that it'll flip mud like CRAZY!!
And that means it flips it right into the back seat!!
He was determined to make it work.
So after forever getting them loaded and situated and reloaded and helmets readjusted
and on and on and on...
we finally hit the trails.
We made it 100 feet from the truck before the little girls started screaming,
"MY EYES!! MY EYES!!"
We turned around and yep there was mud all over their faces!! lol poor things
Maybe now they realized why Daddy was so adamant they wore their goggles
but they won and took them off.
Ryan was so frustrated but all I could do was laugh!
Poor guy has way too many girls around him at all times! lol
So I threw up the white flag in defeat and offered to take the little girls in the truck
and follow him and Taylee in the RZR and Anden on his dirtbike.
Ahh now everyone is happy finally!!
And I was secretly relieved also to be in the
warm clean truck eating snacks with the girls! lol
This was less than 10 mins into our drive and they were this muddy already!!
It was nice to see that there were others as crazy as us to be out there that day! lol
Yes Ryan followed that Jeep right across the river and then back again!
Anden stayed safely by the truck!
Where's Muddy Waldo?! lol
The sun finally poked out of the clouds right when I took this picture.
Such a cool shot!
Oh look how clean and warm we are! ;)
I just LOVE the desert scene!
It took me a few years after I moved here to really see and appreciate it's unique beauty!
Truck entertainment courtesy of Laiklyn!
Anden's hands were frozen!!
He wasn't the happiest of campers on this little adventure!
Guess he should have gone in the truck with the toddlers! ;)
A few more spins through the insane amounts of mud
before calling it a day!
This chic is the coolest!!
She's so tough!
I might have played cool but no way I would want to be that muddy
and still have to drive back home! lol
"Mom my face feels crusty! Is there mud on it?!"
uhhhhh hahahahaha
That gorgeous desert sunset sealed our adventure
while we were loading up!
And then we stripped down all the muddy humans
and threw their clothes in the bed of the truck.
It was an underwear only drive home! lol
Which meant we couldn't stop anywhere for dinner.
Everyone was hungry and tired by the time we got back home.
So I ran inside and started making dinner
while Ryan threw the little girls into the bath
and the big kids showered.
Which meant there was no time to spray down the RZR.
Yes we committed the cardinal sin of letting the mud sit on it and harden overnight!
And yes we, ok Ryan, paid the price the next day
when he spent 2 hours at the self serve car wash (and who knows how many quarters)
to attempt to get that thing clean!
Ryan's dad came up that next morning to hang out with us.
Once he saw the aftermath he's like well I doubt Ryan will ever take this thing in mud again
after he sees how hard it's gonna be to get it clean!!
The aftermath!
Luckily the mud was so thick that it was still wet in a lot of areas.
Only some parts were dry and cemented on!
Ryan told me later.
"Well that was fun but I'm NEVER getting the RZR that muddy again!"
hahahaha thought so! ;)
