Pool D Day!!

Date: June

It's Pool D DAY!!
DIRTY DEMOLITION DIG DAY!!

They arrived at the crack of dawn!
Seriously like 5:30am!

We literally were faces pressed against the patio door watching their every move!!

First order of business...digging up the massive tree stump
that is directly in the middle of the soon to be pool!!

They got that beast right out!!
Now to actually start digging the hole!

10 minutes later the work stopped
and the everyone got into the very small hole to analyze something.
Ugh I immediately knew what happened.

Yes folks,
we hit a rock shelf 18 inches in!!
Yes that now becomes a "hard dig"...
aka lots of more moolah right on the spot for them to continue!!

I called Ryan at this point and gave him the bad news.
Nobody in Anthem escapes without a hard dig.
I had accepted this and mentally prepared it in the budget.
Ryan, on the other hand, was in denial it was going to happen.
Yes babe, it happened!!

At this point everything was at a complete standstill until the excavators sent the new bill
to the pool company who then formally sent it to me to approve.
Yep Day 1 and we're already bleeding money..$4700 more to be exact!! ugh

So while we were stuck I ran the girls to VBS.
By the time I got back I received the new bill, gave the approval and work resumed.

Yep all this happened before half the kids even ate breakfast!!!

Then we left again to pick up the girls from VBS.
They were excited to see what progress had been made!
Which wasn't much.
The backhoe scraped away the surface dirt as much as he could
until the jack hammer attachment arrived for the hard dig.

This jack hammer attachment was insane!
I guess I expected the little hand held jack hammers.
Oh no,
this industrial shook the whole house and I'm pretty sure our neighbors too!
It was SO loud!!

At this point the workers informed me that the rock shelf was so hard
it actually broke the jack hammer.
Hhmmm seriously?!
So they were going to have to call it for the day
to get the jack hammer repaired.
They would be back first thing in the morning.
And yep it was barely noon.

So they put the scoop attachment back on
and loaded the jack hammer onto their flat bed trailer to haul to the mechanic.

And there the lonely backhoe sat for the rest of the day.
Day 1...huge unplanned expenses and broken equipment delays.
We're off to an awesome start! lol
