Well it's been awhile since I've posted about any new creatures invading our home.
So this one is worthy to share.
Sunday morning started just like any other Sunday.
We made a big breakfast and lounged around playing chill games.
Eventually it was time for me to start getting ready for church.
Well Ryan and Anden decided to go outside to inspect the shed
to see exactly where Anden had found a quail egg a couple days prior.
Ryan came running back inside all excited yelling
"There's a snake in the shed!! And it looks huge!"
Then he bolted to the garage to get a weed hoe.
I grabbed Taylee and my camera (of course lol)
and we followed the boys outside.
Taylee and I stood away from a safe distance chiming in simultaneously
"Be careful! Are you sure this is safe?! OMG!"
as Ryan was slowly entering the corner of the shed and trying to pull the
snake out with the hoe.
Finally he jumps back and almost screams himself as he drags this beast out!!
I froze and almost passed out.
Taylee screamed and ran halfway back to the house.
Anden yelled "COOL!!" and tried to get closer.
Are you serious?!?!
That disgusting monster has been living in my backyard?!?!
Well then Ryan got brave and decided he wanted to grab it's head.
I insisted that he had to at least wear gloves.
Which means Anden ran and got his own gloves too!
Taylee had been coaxed back to the scene to watch.
Anden was completely mesmerized by this gross thing
and instantly in love.
He was begging me to keep it for a pet.
Um NO and HECK NO!
This is the extent of the love Taylee had for it!
And that's as much as I touched it too!
Finally I had to interrupt the reptile party to inform the troops
we were going to be late for church.
And I don't think "snake wrangling" is an adequate excuse to be late! lol
So Ryan put the snake back in the bucket and put plywood and cinder block
on top in order to keep it contained until we figured out what to do with it.
Well Anden told EVERYONE at church that we caught a snake!
He was the highlight of his class.
The second we got home they were back outside to check on their new best friend!
Finally back into the bucket it went until we figured out what the heck to do with it.
Anden was still begging to keep it.
Ryan wanted to kill/skin it.
Me and Taylee wanted NOTHING to do with it!
So we debated it for a couple hours.
Talked to the neighbor.
Talked to a few friends.
Finally we all agreed (minus Anden) that she should relocate it to a different wash.
We decided to wait until later that day though.
So we distracted ourselves playing inside and flying kites.
Finally it was time to release the Snake Squatter.
I was adamant that we weren't throwing it over the back fence into that desert wash.
So that meant we had to actually put him in the car and drive him a mile away.
We did just that!
I fully threatened the crew that if that beast somehow got out in the car
that I swear I would wreck the car to get away from it!
We arrived at the chosen spot and piled out of the car.
Well except Taylee.
She chose to watch from the safety of the car with the window unrolled.
Wise choice!
The boys said their sad goodbyes.
Away it slithered between the rocks.
Hopefully never to be seen again.
So how was your Sunday?
