Well if you haven't figured out by now,
decorating (and redecorating and redecorating and)
are one of my fave things to do!
So you can imagine that once I firmly digested that this
little kicking non stop wiggling peanut inside of me is actually a girl,
I began the complete fun of designing her nursery!
I've been consumed with finding exactly what's swirling in my head.
Like literally too consumed.
I even dream about paint colors/designs, furniture, decor.
(I apparently need to take a break from this already! lol)

I decided on the colors
Gray and Coral with accents of Aqua.
(I must be on a kick with these since it's basically the same as my wedding colors were!)
I've been scouring all my usual hot spot stores
and craigslist for unique finds.
Once the Mortensens moved out of all the upstairs rooms,
I immediately set to work transforming the Toy Room into the Nursery!
We started by first cleaning out the toys!
The kids were devastated when they found out I was selling/donating their toys.
Yes the toys they didn't even know existed because they haven't touched them in two years.
Needless to say after I moved the toys out of sight
they were once again out of mind! lol
Then I painted the very bright room a calm light gray color
Meanwhile Ryan built the crib
Then I started bringing in all the fun things I had purchased.
And arranging them and rearranging them until I liked it.
(which we know I'll change again before baby ever arrives!)
Then I excitedly told Ryan about my plans for the main wall.
I wanted a quatrefoil design on that wall.
He stared at me blankly while I explained what that meant.
Then I explained how we could either pay $200+ for wallpaper or vinyl
or that I could make my own stencil and we hand paint the entire wall.
He opted for the second option.
But clarified that HE would not be stenciling or hand painting anything!
His creative cooperation only goes so far.
Ok ok so I agreed I would take on that tedious task.
I designed the perfect size stencil I envisioned and set to work.
And then I traced and traced and traced
and painted and painted and painted
each and every night after the kids went to bed
for two week straight.
I thought many times that I'm putting more labor into this wall
then I probably will labor at the hospital bringing her into this world!!!
But it was all worth it!!
I
L.O.V.E
how it turned out!
I'm far from done with the overall room.
But finishing that beast of an accent wall was a HUGE accomplishment!
Now to put the room back together
and wrap up the finishing touches.
Because currently most of the decor is sitting inside the crib!
Stay tuned for Part 2....

When I showed the kids the "Toy Room" the next morning
they both were like wow what happened?! lol
Then Taylee scrunches her face and asks,
"Mommy if our baby is a girl then why did you paint it blue?!"
Ugh dang grays sometimes looking blueish.
I assured her it's definitely not blue.
And to just wait until I have all the accessories and decor finished
because she'll love how girly it is! :)
(no pressure now huh?! lol)
