The Robot

Anden's homework last week was to build a robot.
He was SO excited about this.
So we asked him what he wanted it to look like.
Without a moment's hesitation
he immediately replied,
"R2D2!!  And...
I want it to move too!!"

Why oh why are my kids' expectations so high?! lol
It couldn't possibly be because I keep meeting their expectations
thus pushing their bar higher?!

So we looked up a bunch of images online and set to work.
Again my part is to make it look "cute"
Ryan is on mechanical duty to make sure it "moves".

I laid out the budget.
A whopping $5!
(lol really! Our projects only look expensive!)
So we began scrambling around the house/garage for items we could use.

The boys decided on this for the body

And these for the arms

And I bought a $1.98 bowl for the head

along with 2 cans of spray paint!

And blue detail paint

Then the creative manual labor step took over.

Anden was VERY involved in this project
and VERY particular about how it should look.
Let's just say he was drooling over my shoulder while I painted the head
guiding me exactly where and how big each detail should be
in order for his robot to be EXACTLY like the real R2D2.
No pressure at all huh?! lol

So by Wednesday night it looked like this...

Ryan had rigged one of Anden's remote control cars under the bottom of it
and by golly that dang robot really did move!!

Friday morning it was done and ready for its school debut!

Then I loaded him up into my car and happily drove him to school.

I seriously giggled the whole way there when I would look over
and see me & R2 having a bonding little drive down the freeway! :)

Taylee and I helped walk Anden and R2D2 into his classroom

Let's just say I think we had the happiest and proudest kid at school that day
as he used his remote to cruise his R2D2 robot through the halls
while all the other kids and adults oohed and aahed! lol
