Summer 2016 Multi-State Trip - June 10th

Date: June 10th
Location: Grand Targhee National Forest, Wyoming

We were up early and ready to explore this beautiful place!

We had breakfast in our cabins and then headed out.

Anden of course immediately wanted to get out on the lake.

Heck no it's WAY too cold buddy.

Literally.

Taylee took a picture at the lobby lodge of the day's forecast.

Yep 44 degrees at 7am.

It was now 9am.

So we walked around and explored the property instead.

They have a general store, gift shop, visitor center, marine, lots of hiking trails, etc.

We hit it all!

And also while inspecting every license plate we passed to scratch off our

License Plate Game worksheets!

The visitor Center had this area of lots of different real antlers (or I call them horns)

the kids loved checking them out!

(and you wonder why I call them horns! lol)

The lake and mountains were even prettier in the early day

before the sun starts to set behind them!

At this point Laiklyn was falling apart.

So Ryan took her back up to the cabin to nap

while the rest of us kept on our exploration journey.

I looked over and apparently Anden was tired and conned Papa Nolie

into pushing him in the stroller! haha

Uh don't judge my awful outfit, uncombed hair and no makeup! lol

I always seem to underestimate how cold it's going to be in these parts.

So this ensemble is the warmest I had! ha

We came across a big amphitheater

Where Taylee proceeded to give us a show!

Anden chimed in for some karate chopping moves!

Then it was back to the hiking paths along the lake shore.

Which of course we had to stop and skip rocks.

Papa Nolie always beats us!

But Anden's getting much better!

Back to our hike

Loved this path with HUGE trees lining it.

Eventually our feet were aching and we started the long uphill walk back to the cabins.

We had lunch and played inside for awhile until Laiklyn woke up.

I packed play dough for Laiklyn for the flight.

Apparently the big kids found it and liked it way more than she did!

Anden made us mini pizzas for lunch! lol

Once Laiklyn arose (in a much happier mood) we headed down to the lake.

The clouds and wind had rolled in by then but that didn't stop us.

Anden was determined to go tubing.

I learned from the day before and didn't even put on a swimsuit.

I would have worn a snowsuit instead if I had one!! haha

Anden was on camera duty for awhile while we explored the lake.

We pulled over to shore and the big kids hopped out

while Papa Nolie and Ryan filled up the tube.

The kids always seem to get so giddy at new places/things

that they forget to use their brains.

Anden picked up a perfect skipping rock, lined up

and somehow threw it perfectly straight at the boat!

PING!!!

Me: Really dude?!!

Anden: Mom it slipped!!

Me:  Sorry Dad!  Add it to our tab! lol

They quickly realized how cold the water was!

But that didn't stop them!

Into the tube they went.

And they also quickly remembered what a crazy driver Papa Nolie is!

(Ryan they'll never complain about your driving again! lol)

Then Ryan decided to join in the freezing fun too!

It was getting windier with white caps.

So we headed back to the Marina for the day.

Then Anden took over the camera again!
He has a different style (and zoom ability) than I do!

As we were walking back to the cabins we stopped for a wind blown ragged family picture! lol

We changed and attempted to stay still for 30 mins.

Then we drug Papa Nolie and Anita out of there cabin and back out to play!

We headed over to the stables.

We had missed the kids pony rides for the day

so we checked out the all the horses instead.

Taylee then took her turn on camera duty

Taylee:  Mom and Ryan kiss!

Us: Um ok it's our first private moment this WHOLE trip so far! lol

Laiklyn would have just crawled in there with the Heeseys if we would have let her!

And soon after she found out what the time out stump was.

She was thrilled about it! lol

In fact all 3 kids ended up on the time out stump at some point during the horse visit! ha

Sheesh 24/7 family trips are a constant up and down! lol

Trying to get Laiklyn in a good mood.

You would think she's loving this.

Oh no.  She was screaming! lol

Heading back to the cabins for the final time.

We saw our first deer on site.

Sister Snuggles then on to bed.

Where Laiklyn pulled her usual 5am wake up call.

But this time she quietly crawled out of her pack n play for the first time ever

and ran over to sleeping me and yelled "HI MOM!"

Then ran for the bedroom door while yelling BYE!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHE'S LOOSE!!
