Location: Anthem, Mesa, Idaho Falls, Wyoming
Bright and WAY too early we loaded up and headed the hour drive
to the Mesa Airport.
We were officially off on our 6 states in 6 days trip!!
Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Arizona
Here We Come!!
Laiklyn is BY FAR by hardest, wiggliest, most opinionated child.
So it was quite the sight trying to contain her in the airport and on the plane!
This was how Anden and I felt with her in our seat!!
(The airline attendants felt the same and eventually gave her her own seat belt to play with! ha)
Papa Nolie and Anita were waiting for us at the airport.
They brought the 'ole trusty (that one is debatable) Suburban for our crew to drive.
So we loaded up and caravaned straight to Wyoming!
Taylee was smart and jumped in Papa Nolie's truck instead.
Luckily Laiklyn finally fell asleep for 45 mins!
So we all got a break from her! ha
We quickly realized that the 'ole Burb didn't have working A/C
let alone any front air vents that worked!!
Luckily it's only in the 80s there.
So down went our windows and out went our feet out the windows!
(photo compliment of Anden from the backseat! lol)
I haven't been up that way since I was in high school!
I forgot how beautiful and GREEN that area is!
(then again anything probably seems green to me after living in the desert this long!)
Ryan and I were in awe and just snapping pics out of our constantly open windows!
We made a pit stop in Swan Valley Idaho
for their famous Square Ice Cream Cones!
The kids didn't even make it into the shop
without walking first down to the creek by the parking lot!
They just LOVE this weather and scenery!
Finally we ventured in for ice cream.
Mmm Lime Rickey Sherbet!
Then it was back to the cars to venture onward to Jackson, Wyoming!
From there we immediately passed Palisades Lake.
I had to send a pic to Lynds who was melting back at home in Vegas
and bummed she wasn't on this trip with us!
I love going back to places now as an adult.
For starters it's always tinier than I remember or much larger than I remembered.
This lake is HUGE compared to what I remembered.
Gosh I had no idea the beauty surrounding me when I grew up here.
Once we got passed the lake we crossed into Wyoming.
From there the mountains started to get taller with more snow on top!
We were loving seeing snow in June!
Finally we passed Jackson Hole and headed on into
Grand Targhee National Forest
to Colter Bay Village
where we would stay for 2 nights.
The kids were WORN OUT and ready to get out of the car!
The cool mountain air was definitely welcome!
We checked into our individual old school log cabins.
It was such a cute place.
And when I say old school I mean like we're happy they actually mortared
in between the logs of the log cabins!!
There was no wifi, internet, telephones or TVs!
I loved it!!
The kids quickly got acquainted with their room!
What is the thrill of immediately jumping beds when you check into a hotel?
I can't blame them, I did the same thing as a kid! :)
We were barely settled into our rooms before we were all itchin' to explore this
beautiful place!
Anden was begging to hit the lake.
I kept reminding him this wasn't like AZ water
and that he would freeze.
He didn't believe me.
So he'll see soon! lol
So we loaded into the boat and took it down to the dock.
Ok and my first attempt of a pic with flailing Laiklyn lol
Papa Nolie got his slip assigned and then we launched the boat.
I was in serious awe of how gorgeous it was there!
I felt like I was in Alaska or something!
Arizona has it's own kind of beauty
but dang I miss these kinds of mountains!
Laiklyn finally gave up and passed out on the boat.
PEACE but with a cramping back! lol
Ahhh those views are to die for!
We drove all the way across the lake and scoped out the mountain range on the other side.
We were SO cold.
Taylee found her warm spot and hid the rest of the way back.
Which meant Anden got to drive!
Then it was back to the cabins to change into WARM clothes
and walk down to the lodge restaurant for dinner!
And we quickly realized it was already 7pm!
This dang late sunset throws off our schedule lol
Matching Pedi's!
Walking back after dinner.
Yep it's still light outside at 8:30pm!
Anden wanted to push Laiklyn the whole trip.
Woohoo one less job for me! :)
Gorgeous View!
Taylee found an antique!! lol
Seriously she had no idea what a phone booth was!
Anden said he saw one in a movie before but thought it was a fake prop! haha
I told you this little resort was a step back in time!
Anden wondered if his big brother helpfulness
was actually a good decision when he realized it was uphill pathways back to our cabin! lol
What a long fun first day!!
We traveled through 3 states in one day to get here!
Too bad the kids were still hyper while Ryan and I were beat!
Tickle Taylee Time
(Apparently Laiklyn didn't notice Taylee's dirty black feet before she started touching them!)
Finally the kids crashed out
and we eventually did too!
Then came the LONG night of sharing a room with Laiklyn.
We honestly considered going in and sleeping in Anden/Taylee's room.
Yep one puny kid in one room and 4 people in the other room.
Wonder who runs this house?!
Well we toughed it out and dealt with her waking up at 5am at the first crack of light
rearing and ready to play!!
Gonna be another long fun day! lol :)
