Summer 2016 Multi-State Trip - June 12th

Date: June 12th
Location: Jackson Hole, Yellowstone National Park, West Yellowstone Montana

This was our last day in Jackson/Wyoming.
So we definitely made the most of it!

We met all the Furniss Clan in the lobby for breakfast.
Laiklyn was on best behavior and managed in a second to dart out of the lobby
through the heavy outside door and down the street of Jackson.
Awesome.
For all my aunts and uncles to see how reponsible of a parent I am
as I'm racing down the street to snag the little terd.

Then while everyone else wandered around town
we headed over to Snow King Resort for some fun!

The rides weren't open quite yet.
So we played around at the park nearby.
Doesn't every community park have awesome climbing rocks?!

Ryan was adamant he was taking Laiklyn up there too!

If he can't lift her up he'll just climb up with her in tow
(much to my dismay!)

Chairlift to the ridge for hiking/sight seeing

Funny to see the snow groomers just chilling there in the grass!

Finally the Snow King Rides opened!
The kids voted to go on the Cowboy Coaster first.
So Ryan and the big kids loaded up.
Laiklyn was NOT pleased at all that she couldn't go!!

Laikly telling her bye bye

They were so excited!  Taylee was a little nervous!
It's a cable that pulls you up to the top and then gravity that takes you down.
The only brake is a hang brake.
So you can control your own speed!

MOMMY please can I go?!?!?!

Waving to crying Laiklyn...and myself trying to contain her from running onto the track

Up and Away!

Here comes Anden down the track...

And here comes Ryan and Taylee!

Next up was me and the big kids!
This time Taylee was a pro and begging me NOT to use my brakes the whole time! lol

Laiklyn had completely melted down at this point watching the kids go again without her!

Me and Taylee coming down.
This thing goes FAST!
I couldn't believe Taylee was begging me to stop using the brakes!

Next up was the Alpine Slide.
We got to ride the chair lift to the top of this one.
Laiklyn and Daddy in one chair...

And us 3 in the other chair!

We could still hear Laiklyn wailing and Ryan struggling to contain her.
lol she was SO mad that her irresponsible Dad wouldn't let her walk around the chairlift!

Our gorgeous view of Jackson Hole down below

Laiklyn was still scarred from her "I hate being tied down" chair lift ride.

Luckily me making ridiculous faces and sounds made her laugh and Ryan too!

Grab your sled and get ready!

Laiklyn at least got to go on this one with us!!

Parents and Laiky Loo up first!

I threatened Ryan not to go too fast with Laiklyn aboard.
Of course he didn't listen to me and flew down the mountain!!
Anything to beat me down the mountain! lol
(yes we're very competitive! ha)

Anden and Taylee came next!

We waited and waited and waited....Taylee never showed up!
I know how competitive these two are and figured it would be an all out race.
Finally her coral hoodie made it's appearance!
After the racer behind her on the other track had already passed her! lol
She claims she got stuck on the track!

The kids definitely had a GREAT time at Snow King.
Forget all the natural wonders we've seen.
This is probably their highlight of the trip! lol

From there we headed back to the hotel and walked over to meet up with the rest of the family!
We took a group pic and then said our good byes!

The Furniss Gang...minus about 100 cousins/2nd cousins! lol

Then we headed back to the hotel, loaded up the luggage into
the Subauna (yet again) and headed off to our next destination!
Yellowstone National Park!

We grabbed a quick drive thru lunch and took off back towards
Grand Targhee National Park and then into Yellowstone National Park!

Now entering Yellowstone National Park...
Or at least the butt end of the sign! lol

Targhee National Park was insanely gorgeous.
Thick sky high pine trees, gorgeous lakes/creeks/rivers, huge snow capped mountain ranges.
As soon as we hit Yellowstone the background immediately changed.
The pine trees thinned out, there were dead trees debris lying all over
(similar to when my kids spill the toothpick holder)
and it just wasn't as luscious.
I quickly remembered it's because it has it's own "beauty" of
a nasty boil ready to erupt from it's skin! lol
I guess that takes a toll on the outside when the inside of the earth is about to explode!

We did however pass quite a few gorgeous waterfalls, pools, rivers, canyon.

We slowly ventured along making pit stops wherever we pleased.
Eventually we ended up at the mighty Old Faithful.
The kids were ecstatic to find a snow mound still in the parking lot!

We got there right in time!
5 more minutes until the explosion.
(and that goes for Old Faithful and Young Faithful aka Laiklyn)

Both Laiklyn and Old Faithful consistently blow their lids every 90 mins. lol
Hers occurred right about the same time.
But hey at least we tried to get a happy family picture!

From there we toured the visitor center and lodge.
The kids loved all the exhibits at the visitor center.

Then we loaded up again and headed off to check out the hot pools/geysers.

After this picture  Anden and Taylee were squabbling getting back into the car
over who had the camera longest, who was sitting where, etc.
Next thing I knew Anden yells "TAYLEE JUST DID A SIDE FLIP OUT OF THE CAR!!"
WHAT?! lol
And I look back and she's no longer in the car but rather
on the ground in a heap.
The whole car did their best to hold back our laughter until we knew she was ok.
Ryan had to finally turn the other way while I was brushing the gravel off her
and trying to figure out how the heck she fell out of a parked car!
He saw the whole thing happen and was peeing his pants not to die laughing.
Then I couldn't hold it any longer and erupted with laughter as well.

So that was our favorite part of Yellowstone National Park...
when Taylee fell out of the car. :)

We decided from then on that we would just slow down and do drive by camera picture taking.
We didn't want to risk any more potential injuries by stopping! lol

More hot pots

I did make Ryan stop at this cute little creek.
We had a bet whether the water was cold or warm.
So I jumped out and touched it.
I won.  It's warm.  Back in the car now.

This place was gorgeous.
It was a little turnoff from the main road.
Luckily I had got the inside scoop online to know to pull off and check it out.

We saw very little wildlife while in Yellowstone much to our dismay.
So we were super excited when we spotted this guy down by the water!

The kids were done checking out nature and instead entertained themselves
by shoving as many donuts as possible into their mouths.

From there we decided to turn and head into West Yellowstone and call it a day.
We did see one more elk on the way out.

Once we got into West Yellowstone we checked into our hotel and headed out exploring.
The kids (aka Anden) LOVE the gift shops and anything they can spend money on.
So we wandered around town, grabbed dinner and finally headed back to crash for the night.
It was another long eventful and fun day!
