Today we just hung out at Papa Nolie's house all day.
The kids absolutely love playing there.
But this year his house was a tad different looking.
("tad" is a nice description!!)
Unbeknownst to us, Dad decided to do a major home renovation and added on 2400 sq ft.
It was supposed to be done by Christmas and he planned to surprise us.
Well...it's nowhere near being done...but he sure did still surprise us!! lol
So we lived in a construction zone
with NO KITCHEN whatsoever for a week!
(like literally the kitchen was torn down to drywall)
Good thing there was at least a fridge in the family room
and a microwave on a rickety TV tray.
(haha for real!!)
There wasn't a single table or countertop or chair.
The new addition had a thin plastic sheet blocking it off
and the rooms that WEREN'T being remodeled had all the crap shoved into them
from the rooms that WERE being remodeled.
The entire basement was completely unusable.
The main floor basically had ONE room that was in tact!
So that is where we all piled on top of each other all week!
Good thing we like each other or this could have been a family disaster! lol
This should have been my first clue.
This is the front porch of my beloved childhood home.
Uhhhh?!!! I have no words!! lol
(ok I actually have too many words I'm holding back!! lol)
And this sums up our "kitchen"
Dang I wish I would have taken more pics of our living situation that week!
But my hands were way too full.
One day we'll totally laugh about the year we camped in the construction zone.
Each morning we got geared up and hauled our kids and groceries
down to Grandma Norma's house to make breakfast.
That was one of the benefits of our odd living situation is that it gave us
lots of extra time to spend with cute Grandma Norma!
She just giggled and pretended she didn't mind being bombarded with our chaos each morning! lol
The wild great grandkids!
Ok let's be real.
This was the first attempt of that pic.
Oh dear Laiklyn.
Lyndsay's abnormally mellow children don't know what hit them.
But Anden does. Literally. A toy to the face!
Grandma's house was somehow still standing after our breakfast date,
so we headed back to Dad's to play.
Yes we even conned Aunt Lyndsay into coming outside to play with us too!
Checking in on the hidden tree fort!
Anden was ready to ride the motorized toys!
Snow Angels
Dad was out shoveling out neighbor's driveways in the tractor.
She came back home while we were playing out front.
He scooped up Lyndsay before she was ready.
Thus giving us a shot of her best side while she was hanging on for life! haha
She quickly exited the bucket ride while Anden and Taylee excitedly jumped in!
It's not a trip to Idaho without a ride in the tractor bucket!
And then they were off to perform their community service with Papa Nolie!
While the littles were napping,
I took the bigs out for some RZR sledding!
(and yes that's the "home addition" in the background!)
We plowed through the fluffy snowdrifts to make ourselves a track in the backyard.
The kids zoomed around that thing hundreds of times!
I eventually went inside to warm up
while Anden drove the RZRs a few hundred more laps! lol
That night we picked up Grandma Norma and headed into Homestead for dinner.
Then it was back home to bed!
