Idaho Summer Trip 2019 - Day 6

Date: Jul 16th
Location: Island Park, ID and Blackfoot, ID

Today was our last day at the cabin.
We started the morning with one last boating trip.

Anden kneeboarding

Laiky attempting to kneeboard with Daddy...for 5 seconds!

Taylee attempting to ski
(yes I taught my kids how to wakeboard but never ski! oops)

Laiky helping Daddy out to kneeboard.
He wanted one last attempt to blow out his knees yet again before this trip ended!

Say Cheese....and she purposely closes her eyes! lol

While we were cleaning the cabin and loading up the cars,
Anden found his squirrel friend.
He was determined to hand feed it before we left!
And holy crap he did! haha

The traditional good bye Island Park picture!
We sure love it here!

We decided that since we had the time,
we were going to take a detour on the drive back to Dad's house
and visit Mesa Falls.
I hadn't been there since I was a little kid
and I've never taken my family.

So off we went on another adventure.
Papa Nolie offered to just drive straight home with the boat
while we went the other direction.
I think we had worn him out already! lol

Walking down to the Falls.
Such a pretty area!

We cracked up laughing at this 'snow pole' measuring stick

We came around a corner and suddenly BOOM there were the falls and a long drop down!!
So beautiful and amazing!
But gosh the mom in me was nervous the whole time clutching the little girls hands!

And then we walked back the loop back to the lodge/visitors center

Where we encountered all sorts of animals! lol

Looking like they fit right in with the 1800s cabin!

Or maybe they're just extremely bored and tired! lol

Of course we couldn't leave without Anden managing to catch some sort of wildlife!

Then we marched the trail back to the parking lot!

So glad we went a bit out of our way to check this place out!
Now hopefully this "bear" will stop goofing around and fall asleep on the drive back to Dad's!

We made it back to Blackfoot!
to Papa Nolie's house... or uh cat farm!

The kids were instantly in love with the baby kitties!
Well until they all got scratched!
Then Taylee learned she apparently is allergic to cats and her eyes got swollen
and she couldn't stop sneezing and sniffling!
However Laiky wasn't deterred from the kitties.
She loved on them so hard that they soon disappeared and were gone the rest of the trip! lol

Ok maybe the dirt mound is a little safer to play with!
Classic Laiky stink eye when I asked her to turn around!

They were enthralled with the dump trucks and tractors.
They've never seen "boy" toys! lol
Guess I should have kept some of Anden's toys after all.

That night a nasty storm rolled in all through the area.
Micro bursts touched down in certain parts and zapped the power.
It fried Dad's wiring in his house for several of his outlets and lights!
We soon found out that the same storm first hit Island Park right after we left.
The wind and rain were so strong it destroyed the water trampoline!
So crazy!
It was beautiful weather the entire time we were there! Phew!
