Jer walks around with a rain cloud of bad luck above his head most days. But on this particular day it turned into a snow cloud. He had been in Houston again all week and was supposed to arrive back in Phoenix at 4:30pm on Friday. He specifically booked an earlier flight than normal seeing as last time it was delayed....and by Friday night after a week alone with me & the kids, every minute counts!! Well as luck would have it, Houston got blasted with a snow storm on Friday. Yes folks, it does snow in Texas....well at least only when Jeremy's there. The city was in chaos. Schools and businesses were closing. And the snow wasn't even enough to stick to the ground. However as the day progressed, so did the storm. I had to abruptly interrupt Jer's excitement about the snow to "predict" that the airport would be a disaster. Obviously they aren't prepared for this type of weather. Again, I "predicted" that there would be huge delays to de-ice the planes, etc. Jer questioned me "but it's only 37 degrees?!". I kindly reminded him that the air in the sky is MUCH colder. (disclaimer: he's born and raised in sunny AZ!)
(pictures coming soon. currently stuck on Jer's phone)
Well unfortunately my predictions were correct. Long story short: After waiting an extra 2 hrs to board, Jeremy then watched one and a half "in-flight" movies before his plane ever left the tarmac. Meanwhile, I pulled out every last strand of my hair. So instead of a happy little family to pick him up, the ole big blue super shuttle performed the duties. Arrival time Harbeck Home: 9:15pm.
Earlier that day, I did my best to come up with more ideas to entertain the kids and dispel their disappointment about not going to the airport (I'm sure they were sad about not seeing Daddy too! lol)
We went to see Santa's sleigh (again) at the Outlets.
Then Anden offered to help put Taylee to bed.
Priceless.
