The Party Continues

Date: July 5-6th

Our 4th of July playing continued for about a week!
Hey Papi was still in town so we made the most of it.

Sunday morning we went to church then relaxed at home.
Taylee's always good for a quick pose!

Poor Laiklyn had a nasty cold and nonstop runny nose!
So she wasn't the happiest kid.
She's also nonstop wiggly.
The only person she'll ever just sit and chill with is Anden!!
(believe me we're all jealous! lol)

Sunday evening we met Ryan's family for dinner.
Then the cousins and Papi came back to our house for a sleepover.
I had already planned to take Monday off.
So why not add 4 more people to the mix!

We had a movie night upstairs in the theater/game room!

Monday morning we went to our fave donut shop for breakfast
and then to the big park to play.
It's only enjoyable to play on the huge playground at 9am
otherwise you're melting!

I left early to put Laiklyn to nap.
Because once she woke up
we hit the lake!!

The cousins had never been tubing or really ever on a boat.
So they loved this first experience!

Even though Laiklyn was sick
she was such a trooper and did awesome!

Even Papi tubed with the boys!

I finally got a turn also with the girls!

Poor Laiky Lou looked miserable!
Goopy eyes and nose! :(

She wanted more than anything to jump in the water with the big kids!
But that absolutely wasn't happening this time with her cold.

So she watched with envy instead

A monsoon started to roll in so we decided we better get off the lake earlier than planned.
It was windy and bees were swarming us when we were trying to load up the boat.
Needless to say taking our usual final group pic was last on our priority list!
Once we were safe in the car we took a pic though!
Except Papi and the boys were in the other car.
Oh well - here's the girls...oh and Ryan!
Another successful lake trip in the books!

And then it turned into an 2nd night of sleepovers.

These kiddos were WORN out
and the parents were even more!!

Now on a side note...
There's always more going on in the background in life then just fun and what you see.
As we were driving to the lake I was texting Anden's best buddy Owen's mom MaryAnn.
I knew Owen's 2 year old sister Evelyn hadn't been feeling well since Friday.
So I was checking in to see how she was doing and also to coordinate play dates for the week.
(since Anden and Owen are hooked at the hip)
Well her reply text put me straight into tears.
What started as a sore leg on Friday and a fever
and being transferred from urgent care to hospital to Phoenix Children's hospital
ended up with a diagnosis Sunday that she had leukemia.
She's 2.5 years old.
My heart broke for them.
They have 5 kids ranging from 16 years old down to Evelyn.
I couldn't even imagine going through that!
I fumbled for the words to say to her.
But most importantly I let her know of our love and support for them.

It'll be a long journey for their family.
But they have the best care at Phoenix Children's
and our Ward family and Anthem are rallying around them.
They started a facebook page "Hope for Evelyn" to provide updates.

So if you're wondering why Owen and Kaitlyn always seem to be with us
well it's because my kids get along awesome with them
and also it's something we can do to help their family.

Hug your loved ones.
Life can change so quickly.
