Mommy Daddy Retreat

Date: Aug 16-17th

Ryan and I truly love spending quality time with each other.
However with 4 kids and very busy lives
it's rare that this actually happens.
So we make it a point to escape for a mommy/daddy staycation every few months!

Ryan surprised me with this one.
He knew it had been a LOOOOOONG summer home alone with these crazy kiddos.
Momma needed a break!!
With only her Man!

So he informed Friday afternoon that his Dad was coming up to watch the kids
and to load my bag because we were leaving for a resort!
Awww I love him so much!

We stayed at Pointe Tapatio Cliffs.
It had been years since we had been here.
It's the most unique property located directly in the mountain hillside.
Literally can't beat the location!
But they do need a massive renovation.
Or maybe we're just spoiled to stay at very nice resorts! haha

There was a little mishap at check in so they upgraded us to their massive suite.
Like literally this place was huge!!

We hadn't been there long before we got a call that someone wanted to buy
our Cadillac ATS in a couple hours!!!
Yes we had decided a couple weeks ago that we just didn't need a 4th car
that just sits on our driveway every day!
I think Anden was the most bummed about selling it! lol
He seriously thought it would be his car in 3 years when he gets his license.
Ya right buddy!

So we debated if we hurried and ran back home to get the title and another car
or just push the buyer off until tomorrow.
We finally said let's just get it over with and sold.
So we packed up and started the 30 min drive back to Anthem.
Then it dawned on us that the registration had recently expired!
We hadn't even notice since no one drives the car!
Oops so we realized it couldn't be sold without emissions and renewed registration.
The emissions office had just closed.
So yep we informed the buyer and pushed him off until Monday
and then turned back around and drove back to the resort!!
I swear it's so hard to just have interrupted quality time together! haha

By the time we got back it was too late to hit the pools,
so we opted to get ready for dinner instead.
We've eaten at all the fancy restaurants on property before.
So we asked around and found a local new Mexican restaurant!
Such a cool find!!

Yes I love eating outside on a patio.
Ryan is always hot!!
So he's a good sport to amuse me and sit out in the triple digit temps! haha
Hey babe at least there's misters (that I tell him every time!)

Then it was off to get dessert and back to the resort.
We went hot tubbing and then Ryan passed out soon after we got into our room.
I let him be.
He works so hard and is up at crazy early hours every day.
We always joke that at this stage in life we have to pay for a good night's sleep.
We pay to stay in a hotel and finally SLEEP! haha

The next morning we slept in as much as we could...yes that means 8am.
Then my Dad called.
I hadn't heard from him for 2 weeks and my gut feel was something was wrong.
I had tried to contact him but he hadn't really replied.
So I hurried and answered his call.
We shot the breeze and then
he eventually unloaded on me how Grandma Norma wasn't doing well.
She had fallen a couple times over the last couple of weeks
and one thing led to another and they realized she wasn't taking the right amount of medication
and it almost killed her.
He was devastated about it!
He lives next door so he's basically her primary caretaker.
I just cried along with him.
Oh sweet Grandma Norma.
We all knew eventually this day would come when she couldn't live alone anymore.
We're so grateful for how healthy she's been for 95 years!!
So I spent the next hour on the balcony of our room crying with my sweet Daddy!
Bittersweet I tell you.

When we finally got off the phone,
Ryan wasn't sure what we should do in the now somber mood.
But we decided to make the most of the remainder of our getaway
and at least go to the pools for a bit!
He's such a supportive husband with all the ups and downs in life!

So we left our cares in the room and went and had fun relaxing at the pool!

I just love this guy!
I also love that we make it a priority to spend quality time with each other
and to remember why we love each other!

Soon after we loaded up, grabbed lunch and headed back home to reality.
Too many events and children were waiting for us! lol
Oh well at least we almost got 24 hours away!!
That's a success in our book! :)
