Kindergarten Mother's Party

On Friday,
Anden's Kindergarten Class had a
Mother's Day Tea & Spa Party.
It was the MOST adorable school event ever!

She had the kids make handwritten invitations for us weeks in advance.
They were so excited about it.
Anden informed me the Friday before,
"Mom we had to do something gross today at school. Mrs. Gokool made us hold the girls' hands and paint their nails!!  It was so gross!"
I died laughing and immediately knew she was teaching the boys how to paint nails
probably for the Mother's Day party.

When the Moms arrived at school,
the classroom windows were blocked off.
So we waited outside.
One by one the door would open and Mrs. Gokool
would instruct a child to come get their Mom.
Then the child would escort their Mom in by their hand into the classroom.
The classroom was totally decorated in a luau theme and dimly lit.
The tables were all pulled together with pink tablecloths, rose petals, sea shells,
candles and individual place settings.
Each child led their Mom to their seat and pulled out the chair for them.
Upon sitting down, the child placed a lei around our necks.
Then they each left and returned with a plate of cheese & crackers and a drink.
And served it to us.
I was at a table with other Moms that had boys.
Let's just say all of our jaws were on the floor
that our little rambunctious boys had been transformed into gentlemen!!

Anden & his best buddy Andrew
giggling in the corner while the other moms come in.

Once we were welcomed in,
Mrs. Gokool had the class sit up front while she read
one of my favorite books ever.
"Love You Forever"

Needless to say all of us Moms were wiping tears away by the end.

Next she had the kids come gather their spa supplies
and they came back to the tables and painted our nails.
So stinking cute watching these wild boys carefully trying to paint our nails!

Mrs. Gokool came up behind me laughing while whispering an apology for ruining my manicure.
I told her this was TOTALLY worth it!

The kids concentrated so hard
and it was obvious they had really practiced!

While our nails dried,
the kids went up front and performed a song for us.
It was to "B-I-N-G-O" tune
but instead a cute song about "M-O-M-M-Y"!

Next Mrs Gokool instructed it was massage time.
Like clockwork all the kids hustled back over to our chairs and stood behind us.
She dimmed the lights and turned on relaxing background music.
The kids went to work massiging our shoulders, necks
(or in my case beating me up & laughing with his buddy!)
Every so often she would say a command and they knew exactly what to do.
"Massage"
"Karate Chop"
(Anden took this one a bit too literally lol)
"Massage"
"Scratches"

I was amazed how well trained the kids were.
There wasn't the slightest confusion or hiccup with the entire program.

After the massages,
the kids went back up front and performed the
Cha Cha Dance.
They were hilariously adorable!!
Nobody was leading them.
They had it memorized perfectly.
And I learned Anden has a hidden talent,
he was the best and silliest dancer of the group!!
Maybe he really is watching all the times me & Taylee are dancing!

(video coming)

After the dance,
the kids brought us a folder they had made for us.

Between laughing,
I would shed a tear.
Gosh I love Anden so much!
I couldn't have asked for a better gift!

This was the BEST Mother's day party ever!!

I feel so entirely blessed
that I have such amazing teachers in my children's lives.

I'll humbly admit,
I wasn't a huge fan based on first impressions of his teacher last year.
I totally misjudged her and created unnecessary worries in my own mind.
I attempted to intervene and express my sincere concerns.
Somehow my email didn't get to the administrators.
For that I am deeply thankful.
And humbled.

She has been the best teacher for Anden.
And the best Kinder teacher all around.
I guess sometimes I need those little reminders that
God knows more than I do
and to trust His will.

And yes I will now be praying Taylee gets into her class next year!
