Thursday was incredibly busy for us.
Taylee's Preschool Graduation was at 9am.
Anden's Boosterthon Fun Run was at 9:30am.
And the events were 20 minutes apart!!
First up:
Taylee's Preschool Graduation!
She was so excited.
She's basically the class president.
She rules the roost.
She's friends with everyone!
Kids and teachers alike!
They adore her!
But how could they not?!
Everyone adores this amazing little girl.
This is the 5th year of Preschool Celebrations that I've attended.
I never get tired of them.
The kids are all SO adorable!
Taylee was on the front row and beaming the whole time.
Knowing it would be chaotic afterwards,
I grabbed Mrs. Dyer for a picture before it started.
We LOVE Mrs. Dyer!!
Waving to me before they "sing the alphabet with our hands"!
(video coming soon)
Calling her name to cross the
"Graduation Bridge"
Then they do the cutest slide show presentation of the kids throughout the year
and give each kid a memory book that the high schoolers make.
It's totally adorable!
I was a bit emotional thinking of all the years we've been going here.
And how much I love Mrs. Dyer and how she loves my kids!
After it was over we had to MAD DASH to Anden's school.
As we were trying to bolt out the door,
high school teacher after teacher kept grabbing us to ask for a picture with Taylee.
Ahhh she's so loved!
Then we grabbed our cupcakes and ran out.
I stopped outside for literally 20 seconds and told Taylee to smile for a quick picture
to document the occasion.
Of course she knows the drill and poses perfectly! lol
I'm seriously in awe how beautiful she is
...
inside and out!
Congratulations Miss Taylee!
The world is yours to conquer.
And I know you'll do just that.

And now enters my Kindergarten dilemma.
Remember 2 yrs ago I had the SAME dilemma with Anden?
Do I redshirt him (ya who knew it was a real term! lol) or send him?
It was beyond stressful.
And I'm SO glad that I made the absolute right decision for him to wait a year.
Fast forward 2 years,
and lo and behold I'm in the same situation with Taylee.
I always assumed since she legitimately misses the cut off date of Sept 1,
that it wouldn't be a dilemma with her.
Well some schools let you test in kids that are ready but barely missed the cut off.
Boom, that's exactly her.
A few months ago Mrs. Dyer pulled me aside,
"Katie you're sending her to Kindergarten aren't you?"
I was hesitant,
"Well I'm not really sure. I don't want her to be the youngest and frankly I don't want to
encourage her to grow up faster than she already is."
Mrs. Dyer adamantly replied,
"Katie, listen to me. She is BEYOND ready for Kinder.
You will honestly be doing her an injustice if you don't send her."
I gave the deer in the headlights look and gulped
then laughed it off like I always do.
"Well sheesh that's no pressure now is it!"
Well since that time, she's asked me about every 2 wks what I've decided.
I tell her I'm still so torn over the decision.
But that I registered her for both Kinder and Preschool next year.
Her birthday is 19 days after the cut off.
Anden's principal already gave me the ok.
She has to be tested in during the summer.
She is extremely advanced socially, mentally, emotionally.
But she'll be the youngest kid in class.
I absolutely know she will conquer Kindergarten.
But she's my baby.
And that's just one year sooner she'll be out of my nest.
I know this isn't about me.
I'm fine with whatever route this goes.
Because I'll always do whatever it takes to make sure my kids' needs are met.
I told Taylee it's in her hands now.
She still has to pass the early admittance test.
Phew,
now it takes some pressure off me making this decision.
(ya right!)
I've been soliciting advice from professionals in all fields.
So what would you do?

Katie, this is cousin Heather! I had this same delemia with Avery! Way ready academically and socially but I decided to wait only on the account of later in life when she is the last one to date, the last one to drive, the last to do everything. I decidied to nip that fight in the butt early! I have never regretted it! She is with a great class and will never know the difference! I decided to save the debate and have her wait! Good luck! Love ya!
